Low was 36.0 degrees, currently 37.1/32.8 degrees at 7:30 am with clear skies.
-
Running a -5.5 for the first week of the month, only + day was the 6th (+2.4 degrees) and looks like Saturday and Sunday may be the only days with a chance at positive numbers thru the next 7 days. Chilly May start.

Nice little rain event this morning! Only 0.01" in gauge at 7 am, but close to 0.10" since then with light rain continuing to fall. Currently 57.3/54.0.

Yep, the last of the piled up snow/sleet just melted off along I-64 between Covington and WV line on the ends/bottoms of the 'chutes' about 10 days ago. NOT surprised there's still some in deeper hollows in Bath/Highland and surrounding areas. Nice find!

Hoping this is the last cold blast of the spring (but probably not) as we have tons of stuff ready to go into the garden down in the basement under grow lights. Amazing the talk of selling topsoil basically right back to the homeowner, that should almost be illegal. @BlizzardNoleout my way. although I live in the 'woods' only 1-5 inches down it is slate and shale. I have placed 2-4" of material over the yard to attempt to get grass to grow, as @CAPEhas said before, looks great until late June. Once it dries and gets hot seems no amount of extra water works or rarely works. @PaleoceneI have mayapple growing in a hollow under large mature oaks and hickory with an understory of wild cherry, been there since I built here 30 years ago.

High 58.0, low 33.8. Although under a freeze warning we got neither a freeze nor frost due to the light N/NW breezes that never became still overnight. Both those temps nowhere near records either, 49 in 1995 and 28 in 1981. Currently 34.0/27.9 at 7:45 am under clear skies with NNW at 5 mph winds.

My numbers for April 2026 Averaged high was 73.2 degrees vs a normal of 66.2 degrees, a +7.0 degrees above average and ties for warmest averaged high for month with 1994. Warmest temp was 87.2 degrees on the 16th. Averaged low was 43.7 degrees vs a normal of 38.9 degrees, a +4.7 degrees above average and is 3rd warmest average recorded behind 1981 and 2006. Lowest temp recorded was 27.2 degrees on the 8th and 21st. Overall averaged temp was 58.4 degrees, a +5.9 degrees above average and slides into 2nd warmest April behind 1981's 58.6 degrees. Total precip for the month was 2.07 inches vs a normal of 3.64 inches, -1.57 inches below average. The wettest day was the last with 0.64" falling. There were only 8 days with measurable, 3 days with a 'T' and 19 dry days. Zero snowfall for the month vs a normal of 0.3 inches, -0.3 inches below average. Highest wind for the month was 33 mph on the 2nd and 20th. There were 13 days with winds above 25 mph. One new record, a record high temp set on the 16th. Overall a dry and warm month, second April in a row.

Low was 35.4 degrees, chilly but not a record (30 from 1996). No frost here, but lower elevation and down next to the river it is heavy!

0.38" at 7 am CoCoRaHS reading! Most since 4/2 when 0.51 fell. Brings monthly up to 1.41", still over 2" below normal. Currently 48.8/47.6 at 8 am with very light rain falling.

Ouch and double ouch! Got down to 27.2 here. Currently 38.9/22.1 at 9:20 am. EDIT- on a side note, see that Canaan NWR got down to 8.6 overnight!

It's time to grade Winter 2025-26(now that it's actually over)
wxdude64 replied to CAPE's topic in Mid Atlantic
I'll go with a solid B here. Only about 80% of climo on the snow, but the 'snowcrete' from 1/25 stayed OTG for a long stretch, almost 3 weeks. Temps were actually nice for once, with below normal for majority of the winter. The wild and strange events in March with the 40-50 degree temp swings and snow after almost 80 was crazy. The 'no A' comes from March and April being almost snowless, had we gotten close to the averages we would have been close to annual snowfall average. -
U G H and yuck!

First measurable in 11 days here (a whopping 0.03") fell just before midnight. High was 85.0, not near the record of 90 (and that is the earliest 90 here) from 2002.
-
Set a new record high for the date at 87.2 degrees, old mark was 85.0 from 2012. Absolutely overly hot for this time of year!
-
Just below freezing here this am at 31.2, good bit warmer than yesterday's 27.2.
-
LOL, just glanced at Canaan NWR site, they got down to 6 degrees.
-
Currently 27.9/17.5 at 7:45 after a 27.2 low. No warnings/advisories out this way, I think the 'growing season' doesn't start until the 25th?? Seen PLENTY of folks sticking stuff into the ground last week, WAY too early for our location and they probably got bit.

My numbers for the month of March 2026. Total precip was 2.12 inches vs a normal of 3.52 inches, -1.40 inches below average. The greatest rainfall was on the 16th with 0.65" falling. There were 13 days with measurable, 1 day with a 'T' and 17 dry days. Total snowfall for the month was 0.5 inches vs a normal of 4.5 inches, -4.0 inches below average. The greatest snowfall was 0.4" on the 17th. There were 2 days with measurable, 2 days with a 'T' and 27 snowless days. The average high temp was 62.9 degrees vs a normal of 54.4 degrees, a +8.5 degrees above average. The warmest temp recorded was 83.9 degrees on the 23rd. The averaged low temp was 34.2 degrees vs a normal of 30.0 degrees, a + 4.2 degrees above average. The coolest temp recorded was 17.0 degrees on the 18th. Overall averaged temp was 48.6 degrees vs the normal of 42.2 degrees, a + 6.4 degrees above average and places it into a tie for 3rd warmest March with 1997. There were 17 days with winds above 25 mph. Several new records, 3 new record highs on the 7th, 12th and the 23rd. One new record 'cool max' set on the 18th. A wild and weird month, overall very warm and dry, with several days that went from near record highs to snow within hours. And several days the exact opposite of going from a very cool morning to near record highs with 40+ degree swings.

OK, I scored Feb without a 'curve', if anyone wishes to attempt Roger's curve they can have a go at it. donsutherland1 84 78 100 262 8 8 14 30 292 12 12 36 60 352 wxdude64 92 74 90 256 0 20 0 20 276 0 0 66 66 342 dmillz25 84 72 84 240 0 38 0 38 278 0 14 48 62 340 RJay 76 88 66 230 0 0 38 38 268 0 4 64 68 336 wxallannj 84 68 86 238 4 14 0 18 256 0 0 78 78 334 Consensus 84 72 90 246 0 18 0 18 264 0 0 68 68 332 hudsonvalley21 76 70 90 236 0 28 0 28 264 0 0 62 62 326 bkviking 64 62 84 210 0 18 0 18 228 0 0 92 92 320 so_whats_happening 68 58 84 210 0 30 0 30 240 0 0 76 76 316 PositiveEPOEnjoyer 6 2 28 36 62 78 36 176 212 0 0 92 92 304 Tom 92 98 74 264 0 0 0 0 264 0 0 34 34 298 Roger Smith 66 68 36 170 0 0 0 0 170 0 0 68 68 238 Scotty Lightning 24 12 34 70 14 38 0 52 122 0 0 98 98 220 Normal 24 12 0 36 14 38 0 52 88 0 0 92 92 180 RodneyS 6 8 0 14 0 0 0 0 14 0 0 84 84 98 Not promising this is 100% correct, although I went thru it twice.
