Leaves falling like early October here, been so for about a week. Mostly poplars and cherry, but a couple oaks showing a bit of color. I've already mowed/blown leaves off the yard and driveways twice.

My numbers for the month of August 2025- Averaged high was 79.2 degrees vs a normal of 82.7 degrees, -3.5 degrees below average and 3rd coolest recorded since records kept. Highest temp was 88.2 degrees on the 18th. Averaged low was 58.3 degrees vs a normal of 60.4 degrees, -2.1 degrees below average and 5th coolest. Lowest temp was 44.1 degrees on the 28th and 29th. Overall averaged temp was 68.7 degrees vs a normal of 71.6 degrees, -2.9 degrees below normal and slides into 2nd coolest August of record, behind 1992's 68.5 degrees and in front of 2014's 68.9 degrees. Total rainfall was 2.04 inches vs a normal of 3.32 inches, a -1.28 inches below normal and 6th driest August of record. Wettest day was the 22nd with 0.79 inches falling. There were 11 days with measurable, 6 days with a 'T' and 14 dry days. Highest wind recorded was 25 mph on the 30th. Besides all the near monthly records mentioned above, there were 4 daily records. Two new record lows on the 28th and 27th, and a new 'warm minimum' set on the 1st, then a new 'cool max' high set on the 8th. Pretty strange and remarkable month. Dry (but many days of distant thunder heard for hours with only getting a 'T' or 0.01") and very cool overall, with many days in the 70s for highs (only 12 days +80 high) although quite humid at times. Then very chilly to end the month on the last 6 days. Records go back to October 1979.

Canaan was 27 this morning! 48.5 for the low here.

Yep, it took until 3:30 pm for me to cross 70 today, currently 72.2/54.0 at 3:50 pm.

48.9 low here, 5th morning in a row in 40's, nice!

49.7/48.6 at 7:45 am with clear skies here.

It will take a miracle to break a record low for third morning in a row. Record for 8/29 is 39 degrees in 1986. 44.1 is current low number, but forecast is only 50 for tonight, and clouds are starting to move in too. Currently 57.7/44.9 at 9 pm.

Canaan dropped to freezing around 10 pm last night then wobbled between 30-32 degrees overnight. 31.6 there at 7 am.

Shattered a record low for the date, 44.1 degrees. Old mark was 51 from 1986. Currently 44.3/43.3 at 7:30 am.

Current 10 pm temps DCA 70, IAD 57, BWI 61, Canaan NWR 33, lol. Edit- 50.1 here.

Not sure about others, but I did. Low was 46.3 here, new record for date. Old mark was 51 degrees from 1982.

Man they can radiate well! I wish there was a camera there too.

Canaan NWR is 4 degrees cooler than last night at this time 37 vs 41.

Low was 48.6 here, currently 48.8/48.1, wonderful! Edit, checked, not a record, but close. Record is 48 from 1984.

I think they made it down to 44 this morning.

59.0 for low here, currently 59.3/58.8 with fog at 8 am.

Currently cloudy and 71.1/65.8 at 11:20 am. Didn't get as cool as northern folks, think the clouds and fog held us up, low was 62.6 degrees this am.

Sun trying to break thru the clouds finally, after 0.15 (eyeballing from window) of unforecasted light rain/drizzle fell all morning into early afternoon. Kept temps nice, currently 70.8/67.8 at 2:30 pm after being 67/68 all day in the rain.

Cloudy and foggy with a few sprinkles, 65.4/64.8. 0.79 in gauge when pulled for CoCoRaHS at 7 am. That storm continued south and dumped 4.27" on Roanoke airport, setting a daily record for them with lots of street/urban flooding.

Got a direct hit from these slowly moving N to S storms, about 2/3's inch in about 20 minutes, still raining.

Been thundering here for last 30-40 minutes, waiting for the water.... currently 82.0/71.1 at 3:15 pm.
