  1. Although I'd prefer for this pattern to stick around, I have zero complaints for the first half of this month. Running a -8 on temps, had 11.1 inches of snow and measurable snow OTG for 9 days and a T for three more.
  2. Definitely has slowed down the fall, currently 18.3/11.9 at 9 pm here.
  3. IDK why NWS has decided to play the game with storm reports. Our last snow I sent THREE reports (a 0.5 at 7 am, a 3.3 at 1 pm and a 5.1 at 7 pm) during the storm with storm totals as it added up over an 18 hour period. NOT ONE made the storm report list or the semi-final that they issued about an hour after my third report was sent in. I sent a message thru the spotter network asking was I on 'ban' for some reason? Their answer was, 'well, you know, things get hectic when we have snow'. Yes, I'm sure it does, but not enough to ignore/miss THREE reports from the same location. Magically my last report showed up about 10 minutes later.
  4. 19.7/12.2 at 7:45 pm after a 28.9 high. Forecast is an 18 low? Someone better tell the atmosphere to hit the brakes.
  5. I didn't bottom out until 4:28 am at 5.8, up to 6.5 at 7 am CoCoRaHS report and now 7.9/1.8 at 8:50 am.
  6. 5.8 degrees for the low, new record for the date (1989 10 degrees). Least the winds are down into the 5-15 mph range this morning.
  7. Airport up at Hot Springs VA is currently 1/-6 with NW winds 21/33 and a WC of -20.
  8. 10.7/-3.2 at 8:45 pm here. NW wind 12/21 making WC -4 to -8 degrees. Edit- I know it isn't calling for it to get THAT cold, but if this wind calms... do we head for the DP?
  9. I need 10 degrees to tie record low (1989), anything lower will be a new one.
  10. 11.9/-1.9 at 5 pm. Wind NW at 17 gusting 29 mph. Edit- WC -5 to -9.
  11. "Ralphie, you're lucky it didn't cut your eye. Those icicles have been known to kill people!"
  12. Not getting any snow, but making up for it with wind. Just had a 52 mph gust, many plus 40 in last 2 hours and steady 20-25. Temp is 15.6/-1.7. WC running -1.5 to -9.3 lol
  13. With the view out of Wisp in last hour @katabatic and others have to be getting dumped on! https://www.resortcams.com/webcams/wisp/
  14. Congrats to the northern crew for the hit! I measured... a 'T', lol. Just enough to whiten the ground, actually started as light sleet at 3 am before going over to flurries. 0.01" in the gauge once thawed. Was 27.0 at 7 am (likely the high), now 22.8/12.9 at 9 am.
  15. That CAN'T be right, puts a high bullseye on the Virginia high desert country....
  16. Long as he didn't create a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare you.
  17. Acting more like a Miller B type event. System driving E/ESE into mountains then a coastal transfer of sorts.
  18. I left my dazzling total above, lol. Seriously, Blacksburg NWS reported 0.7 and I think Bluefield and Wytheville WAY down SW got an inch or so.
  19. Well, a glance of the 24 precip analysis says I'm like Wile E Coyote..... Had about 2 hours of light snow this morning, visibility never dropped below 4 miles and only place it accumulated was on the snow left from previous events. On to the next event, I surely can't complain after the past 10 days.
  20. Unless it 'rounds the bend' soon Boone and Greensboro might have a better shot of some flakes.
  21. Yep, I was a 2" or less thinker from the start of this. BUT, sometimes a surprise happens, and we've been hot lately......
  22. Just issued- Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Blacksburg VA 540 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 VAZ019-020-WVZ507-110600- Alleghany VA-Bath-Eastern Greenbrier- Including the cities of Clifton Forge, Covington, Hot Springs, Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs, and Alderson 540 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 ...BURSTS OF HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT... Bands of heavy snow are possible this evening through the overnight hours. If traveling and encountering adverse driving conditions, reduce speed, ensure headlights are on, and leave plenty of room between you and other vehicles. Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC 222 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 MDZ501-502-VAZ504-WVZ502>504-506-110300- Extreme Western Allegany-Central and Eastern Allegany- Eastern Highland-Eastern Grant-Western Mineral-Eastern Mineral- Eastern Pendleton- Including the cities of Frostburg, Cumberland, Monterey, Petersburg, Elk Garden, Antioch, Keyser, New Creek, Ridgeville, Russelldale, Headsville, Fort Ashby, Brandywine, Franklin, Oak Flat, Ruddle, and Sugar Grove 222 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025 ...BURSTS OF SNOW POSSIBLE BETWEEN 5 AND 10 PM... Bursts of snow are possible between 5 and 10 PM this evening. Affected locations will see rapidly changing weather and road conditions, with brief heavy snow and gusty winds. A quick snow accumulation up to an inch is possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared for areas of blowing snow. This could lead to temporary whiteout conditions and the potential for dangerous driving conditions. If you are traveling and encounter adverse winter driving conditions, reduce speed and make sure headlights are on.
  23. Down to 37.4/34.1 at 5:30, wind WSW at 7 gusting to 16 mph. Still a solid 2" on south facing to 4" in shaded areas OTG.
