  1. 74.3/48.8 at 4 pm on August 25th, I'll take it!
  2. 59.0 for low here, currently 59.3/58.8 with fog at 8 am.
  3. Currently cloudy and 71.1/65.8 at 11:20 am. Didn't get as cool as northern folks, think the clouds and fog held us up, low was 62.6 degrees this am.
  4. Sun trying to break thru the clouds finally, after 0.15 (eyeballing from window) of unforecasted light rain/drizzle fell all morning into early afternoon. Kept temps nice, currently 70.8/67.8 at 2:30 pm after being 67/68 all day in the rain.
  5. Cloudy and foggy with a few sprinkles, 65.4/64.8. 0.79 in gauge when pulled for CoCoRaHS at 7 am. That storm continued south and dumped 4.27" on Roanoke airport, setting a daily record for them with lots of street/urban flooding.
  6. Got a direct hit from these slowly moving N to S storms, about 2/3's inch in about 20 minutes, still raining.
  7. Been thundering here for last 30-40 minutes, waiting for the water.... currently 82.0/71.1 at 3:15 pm.
  8. No rain yesterday, but a light drizzle/mist since about 8 am here. Cloudy and patchy fog too. Currently 67.7/65.5.
  9. Sitting at 0.83 for the month here, but 0.65 of that fell in first 5 days. Things are finally getting dry/crunchy around here.
  10. I have the 'usual' spots (under the deep tree canopy, lack of sun and trees sucking up all the water and nutrients) that have browned out in last week or so, otherwise an amazing year for grass here!
  11. Got lucky and on the 'right' side of things this past winter here. 24 days with measurable OTG in Jan with 4 'T's' and 10 days in Feb with another 5 'T's'. Actually FELT like winter as opposed to previous 3 or so. Hoping everyone gets in on the action this year instead of a thin 50 mile wide line streaking across the forum.
  12. A giant 0.05 this morning in the gauge, guess that is better than a goose egg. Muggy, muggy past 24 hours! 67.2/66.4 at 7:45 am this morning with some patchy fog, 66.1 low.
  13. If you go to their channel I think this is the only map they have and just yearly repost lol.
  14. Big uptick in temps and dew points this am. Been in the 50's for a while, this morning's 66.7/66.0 felt terrible.
  15. 56.4 for a low this morning, I'm running a -8.6 for the month so far, I'll take it!
  16. Was 56.5 here, sadly a good bit of haze/smoke in the sky today after the fog burned off.
  17. I sorta answered my own question going back to 1930, Blacksburg, Roanoke and Lynchburg all dropped 4 more places.
  18. IF it is a record, it has just squeaked over previous mark. Looking across the state these are the numbers going back ONLY to 1980, mainly because that is what my numbers go back to. Lynchburg tied 4th highest, Roanoke 7th highest, Danville 6th highest, Blacksburg 1st, Dulles tied 4th, Reagan National 8th, Charlottsville 8th highest, Staunton 1st, Dale Enterprise tied 6th, Front Royal 2nd, Norfolk 11th, Richmond tied 8th highest, Williamsburg tied 5th, Emporia 4th, Wallops Island tied 8th. Now to the far western/southwestern part of the state, and these numbers are high. Wise 1st, Pennington Gap 1st, Pulaski 3rd, Richlands tied 1st, Wytheville 5th, Pearisburg 2nd, Abington 4th, Covington 3rd, Hot Springs 1st, Gathright Dam tied 3rd and my own in 4th. Yes, that is a cross section and not ALL locations, but are there enough 1's and 2's to overcome the 8's, 7's, 6's and 11's? And was it warmer back in the 30's? Just pondering.
  19. Set a new 'cool max' (but not by much) at 73.1 degrees. Old record was 73.7 from 2015, with a 74 mark in 1992 and 2004. A cloudy/cool day on light E to NE breezes. About 90 minutes of sprinkles/mist in afternoon, very foggy this am and 61.0/59.9.
  20. It took all day, but just crossed 68 here (68.6) at 3:30 pm, so there will not be a record 'cool max' set for the day, although close. Record is 68.0 from 1993 and 2004. Cloudy all day, but only sprinkles from the sky.
  21. Well, the rain called/forecasted for late this evening thru tomorrow decided to arrive overnight.... currently 59.6/59.0.
  22. Low was 52.9 degrees here this morning. High was 73.8 degrees, which continues the strange trend of cool temps for the date in the past few years. The record 'cool max' is 69.1 degrees from 2023, then 73.7 in 2020, this 73.8 degrees for today, 74.6 in 2018 and 77.1 in 2016 and 2014. Average for the date is 82/60.
  23. My numbers for July 2025 Averaged high temp was 86.3 degrees vs a normal of 83.9 degrees, a +2.4 degrees above average. The warmest temp recorded was 90.6 degrees on the 26th. Averaged low temp was 65.4 degrees vs a normal of 62.8 degrees, a +2.6 degrees above average. The coolest temp recorded for the month was 60.0 set on the 4th and 6th. Overall averaged temp was 75.9 degrees vs a normal of 73.4 degrees, a +2.5 degrees above average. Total rainfall for the month was 4.19 inches vs a normal of 4.01 inches, a +0.18 inches above average. The wettest day was the 10th with 1.55 inches falling. There were 17 days with measurable, 6 days with a 'T' and 8 dry days. Highest wind was on the 27th and 21st at 26 mph, but only 5 days had a wind at or above 25 mph. There were two new records, both 'warm minimums' set on the 30th and 31st. A warm to hot and very humid/muggy month with little temp variation. Every day had a high in the 80's except the 26th and 28th which barely crept above 90. Every night was between 60 and 70 degrees and many days/evenings with rainfall only adding to the mugginess.
  24. Yep, saw 44.6 at Canaan NWR earlier. Here the low was 54.9, currently 55.3/54.6 at 8 am with dense fog, less than 0.1 visibility! House is wide open.
