  1. Someone mentioned last night that they shut the sirens off. That is the typical procedure. Once a tornado warning is issued, they sound sound the sirens, usually for 2-3 minutes, depending on the jurisdiction, then shut down. Another misnomer is that they sound them when the threat has passed. The sirens will sometimes be sounded a second time if it's a long leashed warning, say 15 minutes or more before the tornado actually gets close to the siren's warning area. As someone who used to work on them, you don't want to hear that for 15-30 minutes if you live near the siren.
  2. I think someone already mentioned this, but your shingles are toast.
  3. Probably not a lot to hit where it's at right now
  4. I hope ChicagoWX is done with his mail route.
  5. Thanks. It's like an updated version of the old Earl Barker site.
  6. Yeah, I saw that too, but am kinda skeptical. I'm still thinking the MCS will be the main show here. And yes, keep the stones well north.
  7. I was gonna say Rensselaer, but close enough.
  8. A couple of brush fires and a stiff onshore wind would burn down half of the state.
  9. Solid band has persisted overnight making its way well inland.
  10. FWA is surrounded on three sides by farmland.
  11. Regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil says, I saw robins while in Fort Wayne yesterday. That settles it. An early spring is in store for us. Screw the science.
  12. I picked up a quick 2" this morning as the snow is winding down. Back up to 5" on the ground. Had to take the wife to FWA at 5:30 and had graupel covering the road. Dropped her off at a little after six when it flipped to SN. Her 7:20 flight is still sitting on the tarmac. I'll bet she's pissed.
  13. You must be talking about Beau Dodson. I think he still lurks here from time to time. I vaguely remember seeing him post something a couple of years ago. https://beaudodsonweather.com/
  14. I measured 7.7" on .40" in Huntington and FWA had 8.7" on .53". Wasn't jackpot, but I'll take those totals anytime! (Well, at least until March 15th.)
  15. Expect a rebuttal from Beavis
  16. Baby steps toward seeing some action IMBY. @Jackstrawmight be in play.
  17. Before I retired from the local Emergency Management Agency, I prayed for 8-12" (besides being a ). Serious accidents go way down because people can't drive like maniacs as they do when there's only an inch or two. Usually the worst issues are fender benders, slide offs or getting stuck. A slick interstate with only a little snow? Carnage.
  18. I obtained a picture of Spartman inserting a tag while starting a thread. I probably used enough electricity to power a house for an entire day obtaining this.
  19. Might pick up an inch this afternoon/evening. Nickle and diming.
  20. Looks like an overperforming clipper to start the new year will be the best we can do for awhile.
  21. Matt Leach (WxMatt21 here) posted this on his Channel 21 Facebook a couple of days ago. It's quite an interesting pattern for Christmas temps in Fort Wayne. That 58 forecast has been dropped several degrees now as the warm front looks to get hung up father south than originally anticipated
