  1. Radar quiet. Feels like a day where it blossoms seemingly without reason.
  2. Im glad it wasn’t me overreacting! At onset it had that freight train roar to it. From the same cell, Mike Thomas reported some serious down drafts from it not long after it crossed the river. http:// https://x.com/miketfox5/status/1806149040158949560?s=46 .
  3. Probably a little both. We had some strong gusts at the onset. I have a 100 foot tall sycamore that looked like it bent about 30 degrees. I live in a neighborhood known to have a lot of old/large white oak trees so it’s common unfortunately. Power back on at 3 am. Toddler son slept like a baby. I ran a small generator to a small window ac unit to keep second floor of home relatively cool. I did not sleep. So I’m taking off work and going back to bed [emoji23] [emoji12] .
  4. I uploaded it just for you. If you watch the whole thing, you’ll see multiple flashes. Then what looks like either an electrical arc or some sort of fire maybe? And then you can see it blow the power to the whole neighborhood.
  5. Watched the neighborhood substation appear to blow up. No power. No AC. Sigh. .
  6. I feel like it’s about to rip. Have power banks on chargers. Can feel cool outflow. [emoji102] .
  7. Looks like a line is trying to get organized as it approaches Shenandoah. .
  8. Same thing happened to me for a second floor AC unit. I bought two 5000 BTU window units at 150 bucks each from Lowe’s and strategically placed them on our second floor with a fan blowing and I got it down to 69° the last two nights!
  9. I lived in California for six years. This entire heat wave feels like West Coast heat. Glorious out this morning 6:45 AM.
  10. Love that place. You may have inspired me to take my little boy.
  11. We need to get an outflow party started!
  12. What device are you using? Been meaning to buy the tempest but everyone I see it’s 329 bucks I balk at it.
  13. Same. First floor and basement are fine. Second floor of my cape cod is STRUGGLING.
  14. If this is true. That’s awesome. 90s forecasts always use to say HHH. So far during this wave I personally haven’t felt the humidity has been that bad. The heat today is noticeable. Still cruised in my jeep with top down and was still nice.
  15. Well it’s the onshore flow from the east/southeast that’s making it seem nice. Once that changes, you’re gonna cook in the city.
  16. Funny I came to say the same thing. Just did a lunch time walk and was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was outside.
  17. Funny. I’m doing the same thing. I have my hose at 25 percent and I’m moving it between my bushes and flowers between meetings. .
  18. I said the same thing about COVID. We do a lovely hike in Prince William NP with some rapids and small waterfalls. It’s a perfect “local” hike when I don’t want to head to Shenandoah, West Virginia or the beach. Yesterday there were a few trail runners, but very few hikers. I looked at my wife and I said three years ago and this place would’ve been packed. .
  19. Despite the looming pinwheel heat dome of death’s arrival, it’s actually an extremely nice morning out right now!
  20. It’s always at least 5 degrees warmer in the city due to UHI. I was looking at private station reports Friday and overnight lows averaged 6-8 degrees warmer in DC compared to where I’m at, about 10 miles southwest of DC.
  21. Curious if there’s any energy grid concerns. .
