  1. Only time I go to Sugarloaf. Way too cold earlier than that. Speaking of which, beautiful skiing weather yesterday, today and this weekend. Mohawk was great yesterday.
  2. I skied at Mohawk Mountain today with my son. Beautiful bluebird sunshine with the temperature right around 32F. Suprisingly snowmaking was ongoing all day long on unopened trails. It was a mix of groomed granular and some packed powder on Wildwood which had snowmaking on it last night.
  3. With the meager snowfall season, ski areas that rely on natural snow are having a hard time with poor attendance.
  4. What exactly should I be thankful for?
  5. What skiing do you do? I've only seen you mention cross country. If you're at all knowledge about downhill, you're comment is pure trolling.
  6. Without it, we would probably only have about a month of very limited skiing here. Real or not, it's more durable than the natural stuff. Sundown makes 3' + on most runs. And we ski here from late November to April 1st.
  7. That's mostly what we have around here, machine groomed granular. Packed powder conditions are not the norm even in a good snow season. Lots of thaws and rain are what happens here. 2018-2019 was like that, tons of snow North of the MA/VT and NH border. Lots of rain here. Mount Snow and North is where you can expect powdery snow conditions. Non skiers don't understand that man made snow is very durable. It can be made wet and dense. I'm formerly from NYC and learned to ski at VV/GG. I had some really bad ski days there. Lots of unedgable ice.
  8. It looks like Saddleback got the loan needed to reopen: https://www.boston.com/news/skiing/2020/01/27/heres-the-latest-on-saddleback-mountain-in-maine
  9. It's January 28th and the Spring equinox is on March 19th, but yeah Spring in a few weeks.
  10. No water skiing, it's been warm enough lately. You're a miserable troll. Non skier posting garbage.
  11. Dreary windy, cloudy day here. 36F. Tomorrow looks like a nice sunny day. I'm skiing tomorrow with my son at Mohawk Mountain.
  12. Beautiful Spring-like day today, solid overcast and 36F.
  13. In Germany, you're only allowed to have a family member buried for a limited amount of time, before disinterment and cremation. I remember when my uncle passed away in Germany, he wanted cremation partly for this reason.
  14. When it's cold outside/in the forecast, he's quiet. Like a Summertime DIT 24/7.
  15. The Avianca jet was the first 707 I'd seen up close at that point. This plane was built in 1967 and second hand owned by the time of the crash. I never flew in one, but did go inside SAM970, the first presidential jet Air Force One. It's rare to see a large jetliner crash site with no fire damage.
  16. Rain is just about over here, 0.39" 41F.
