  1. 32F with moderate snow. Starting to accumulate on all surfaces.
  2. Mount Snow has been having lift problems, Canyon Quad was closed early today due to mechanical issues. Bluebird and GSE where both hit by lightning in January, it's not an issue now, but it was during MLK weekend. Also, since Vail bought them last Fall, alot of employees quit. They didn't have enough staff today to run Sunbrook. They also own Okemo, but I'd go there.
  3. Snowing fairly heavily here, but not sticking yet. 33F Heaviest snow I've seen since December. Thought it was supposed to start as sleet?
  4. There's scattered snowcover between the Deerfield River and Route 2. Probably about 2-6" on Route 112 to the VT line. There's about 6-10" around Mount Snow.
  5. Lots of folks out ice fishing on the Oxbow.
  6. People snowmobiling in the valley area near Mount snow, about 6-10" of cover. They are expecting 3-5" overnight. I'm not too familiar with snowmobiling in Southern Vermont, I rented once near Okemo.
  7. Nice day today at Mount Snow with packed powder and machine groomed. Comfortable temperatures in the upper 20's and lower 30's. The mountain is in good shape for the crowds on Presidents Week,
  8. Perfect: Friday and Saturday... Friday an expansive area of high pressure moves into New England ushering in a shot of drier arctic air. Flow around the high comes out of the N/NW Friday into early Saturday bringing 850 mb temps down toward the -15 to -18 C range in a good mixing environment leading to high temperatures each day in the 20s and low 30s (a bit below normal for mid February for a change). Saturday morning the bottom drops out in a good radiational cooling setup which will bring some of the coldest air of this winter, in the single digits (teens on the Cape). Many location in the high elevation interior may drop below zero, and Boston could drop into the single digits for the first time this season. Guidance is overall slightly warmer than 24 hours ago, but widespread single digits are still expected. Dry and sunny conditions persist each day. The only exception will be over Cape Cod and Nantucket where lingering low level moisture and favorable wind direction may lead to ocean effect clouds and some flurries/snow showers. NAM and EC guidance has shifted the moisture a bit further offshore so backed off on PoPs a bit with this update, but still in the realm of possibility. Impactful winds aren`t expected either day, but Friday will be the breezy day with good mixing bringing down gusts 15 to 20 mph, closer to 25 mph along the southeast coast.
  9. Gardening in February? Golfing on a dormant grass course? Peak skiing week coming up.
  10. Not every Winter is good. The 80's and s good chunk of the 90's say hello.
  11. I see the affect of climate change on the Fall foliage. Year after year have been pretty bad in most of New England. Last October was really bad between Killington and Mad River Glen, acres of rust colored tree's. This area was always reliable in the 80's and 90's. The Summer heat and warm overnight lows now extend into September.
  12. January and February of 1990 was worse for New England ski country than 2020. I think Killington had 30" of snow in January and alot of rain.
  13. Only four months to go until heat and humidity return. Let's continue with that boring discussion.
  14. Sunny day here at Mount Snow with packed powder conditions. Comfortable temperatures, 26F this morning and 30F currently.
  15. What's the plan for Friday and Saturday, huddle indoors and troll folks that like the cold?
  16. 8 months of dew tells, do we live In the deep South?
  17. Nice and cold this Friday and Saturday. Skiing tomorrow at Mount Snow, looks to be a nice sunny day.
  18. 0.25" YTD 24.50". Changed to rain here at 4am.
