  1. Berkshire East is opening on Saturday, with Deer Run, Outback, Mohawk, Chief and Bobcat. $45 tickets. I'm going for my first day of the season.
  2. I started out my son just before age 2 at Mowawk Mountain. He also took lessons at Killington and Sugarloaf. He loves skiing and is now much better than Dad.
  3. The Cupsuptic T-bar isn't very steep and serves a nice collection of blue runs. Cupsuptic T-bar:
  4. Saddleback is replacing the Cupsuptic T-bar with a new one. Personally I'd rather see a chairlift, but you can access the Summit via a cut across to the Kennebago Quad. I've done this lots of times during wind events. This is probably why they are keeping it.
  5. Loved the tbar. About halfway up there was a steep section that would briefly tug hard. Some people would fall there The biggest problem was the windblown T-bar track at the Summit. Frequently there was nothing but ice at the summit.
  6. Saddleback on 5/1/15, they were closed and we skied at Sugarloaf. We went past Saddleback on the way home.
  7. Closing day and Saddleback's last day of operations. 4/18/15
  8. I'm up late at night with pain from my PLS disease, so I post late when I can't sleep. My first time at Sugarloaf was 12/89, but I started skiing in 1983. I was at Saddleback on closing day on 4/18/15, I didn't think they would be closed for 5 years from that point. The major issue with Saddleback is the lack of lodging space during the Winter. Saddleback is a ski area located in a snowmobiling town. It's very difficult to get lodging in Rangely during the Winter. Sugarloaf has a huge bed capacity, Saddleback does not. Most of my days at Saddleback were in Spring, after snowmobiling was done, or as a day trip from Sugarloaf. I probably have about 40 days in at Saddleback. It's my son's favorite ski area in New England.
  9. Killington is making snow TTB through Snowdon right now. I would think it might open by Sunday.
  10. It looks like Saddleback may have found a buyer and will reopen. https://www.sunjournal.com/2019/11/07/agreement-reached-on-sale-of-saddleback/
  11. Magic Mountain finished flying in the towers for the quad chair today.
  12. Another Winter that deserves mentioning is the Winter of 2000-2001. Killington - Okemo 4/2001: This is the most snow I've seen late season at Killington/Okemo.
  13. Snowmaking today on Upper East Fall And Upper Superstar per pictures on Killington Zone and webcams, but not TTB yet. It wouldn't surprise me if Killington only goes after Superstar this week. They'll get fined if snow depths aren't sufficient for the event.
  14. Yes, I miss my bedroom slipper rear entry boots.
  15. With the cold weather later this week, they will try to open Great Northern, Middle Chute and Lower Mouse Run. Probably also Upper Downdraft and Ridge Run. Maybe Upper Bunny Buster , Upper Mouse Run and Chute TTB. With the World Cup and Snowmaking demand for Superstar, they might not expand in this fashion this week. Last year Mount Snow was TTB way before Killington.
  16. I'm digitizing my old photos. If you guys want a laugh, this is Kitzbuhel Austria in April of 1987. It's me, my uncle and my brother. My how fashion and skis have changed.
  17. The snow was so deep , that the snowcat digging out Spillway broke a track and got stuck on 4/17. Just an amazing week of skiing the week before, just feet of snow.
  18. Killington opening tomorrow to passholders.
  19. I heard that Keystone/Summit Country broke it's snowfall record for October with 43" of snow.
  20. 7/10/89 While I didn't experience the tornadoes first-hand, I did see the extreme damage done to Mohawk Mountain. You could see it's path for many years afterward.
  21. I was digging through the Photobucket pictures looking for 4/07 snow pictures and came across this picture. Me heli skiing 12/93 in B.C
  22. 2/11/83 - I remember really loud thunder and lightning with the blizzard. I was 11 years old at the time.
  23. Saddleback 4/14/07 A day before closing day and just before the start of the 4/14 - 17 Nor'easter. This remains the most snow I've ever seen in April. Previously I'd seen a few inches of snow here and there, but not feet. Saddleback closed on 4/15/07 with a 60" base.
