Potential Major Noreaster 10-26 through 10-27
Sugarloaf1989 replied to ineedsnow's topic in New England
I feel for those with damage and no power. Living alone and disabled is hard enough, storm damage is unwanted. Hope all members affected by the storm come out okay. -

No damage here, just lots of leaves down. Highest gust overnight was 33MPH. And about 1.5"of rain for a total. -

Can't wait for the high winds later on and tree branches crashing down. Stuff of dreams. -

Wind is picking up, but it's just a steady breeze. My back yard is covered in Oak leaves. One Oak is nearly completely changed to gold color. -

Connecticut River Death Valley is where big wind, rain and snowfall totals come to die. Works for me, huge Oaks, old roof and house. Don't want any damage while waiting for a place to live. -

I forgot to post this last week. Mohawk Mountain 10/11/20 and this year on 10/15/20. The foliage isn't delayed much, just not good this year. Photo taken this year from a different location because the parking lot was closed. Also 75F outside when I took this picture last week.

I went paddling with a buddy of mine at Woodcreek Pond and the foliage in that area of Northern Connecticut is done and bare for the most part except for the Oaks.

Outside of Vermont the foliage is much worse than last year at least in Connecticut. Enfield has some nice foliage color, but it's mostly in busy urban areas where I can't take pictures. It's just been too warm and rainy this year.

October Discussion: Bring the Frost-Hold the Snow
Sugarloaf1989 replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in New England
36F here last night, had to turn on the heat for the first time this Fall. Oil heat downstairs and baseboard heating upstairs. Going to keep the downstairs at 65F this Winter and see how it goes. Nobody there anyway. -
Really nice foliage color along 1-91 from the Connecticut River into Springfield. In town it varies from green to 50%. Most of it will survive the upcoming stormy weather.

Worse than hard, Dad died with a reverse mortgage, tons of debt, no life insurance the mortgage company wants to foreclose. I'm divorced and living alone. My one solace is my son lives in town. I see him a few times a month. I did get accepted into the disabled housing program waiting list in my town. Hoping to stay here as long as possible. Hopefully into next year. Probably looking at getting an apartment next Spring.

Just feeling awful today, was doing okay the last few months , but feeling really depressed about my situation. Being alone in the house sucks. Really miss my father.

Nice COLA increase for the Social Security peeps, 5.9% and about $90 extra for me a month starting in January. I'll be living on my own next year and I can certainly use the extra money.

I drove into Southwest Massachusetts and Northwestern Connecticut. Lots of driving for mediocre foliage. Route 57, Route 23 and Route 8 are past peak and about 25% bare. Route 20 West, Lots of bare trees, similar situation in the rest of the region. Beckett Lake, color but past peak
