  1. I skied in Summer ski camp in Europe in July of 1985. I skied at Stubai, Austria, Zermatt, Switzerland, Tignes, France and ValSenales, Italy. Currently the only area still offering skiing all Summer is Zermatt. The other areas don't have enough snow cover remaining on their glacier's past August 1st to allow for skiing all Summer. Global warming might be increasing the precipitation, but Summer snow levels are higher, with rain falling on glacial ice.
  2. You're latest avatar is stupid. Keep us informed on how many ski areas close from the thaw.
  3. The streets around here still have snow from December.
  4. Steady light snow here and 30F. 1/4" on all surfaces.
  5. If it's going to be rainy and cloudy during this mildup, it wouldn't surprise me to stay in the upper 40's, especially the valley areas.
  6. I'll believe it when I see it. Looks like lower 50's here next weekend, about +20.
  7. What forecasts have 65-70? And all of NE LOL.
  8. Having unrealistic expectations for our climate leads to much anxiety.
  9. 2006-2007 Winter weather didn't start until February. I imagine some folks on here were taking toaster bath's with that Winter. What a complete 180, tons of snow in February, March and April.
  10. Munich Haus if you like German food. The schnitzel platter is especially good.
  11. I like that place, but I'm having a hard time with the carpet on the quad. I can't maintain my balance when loading the lift. I'm going to get in a few days at Sundown, strengthen my legs and try skiing there again in Late January.
  12. Freewheeler yesterday at Butternut, untracked groomer and nobody on the trail:
  13. Flying Cloud, Mini Dole and UMass aren't opened. Can't say I remember those runs being closed in January. If you know the dates you are skiing, BE offers discounts for advanced purchase. Use their calendar to reload you're RFID card.
  14. I skied at Butternut today with my son. It was firm but edgeable groomer. The area received quite a bit of freezing rain earlier in the week. It wasn't really crowded with minimal waiting at lifts.
  15. I'm at Butternut Basin, severe icing on I-90 above around 1,400'. Probably about 1/2" of ice with some broken trees.
  16. Part two in early December was all snow here with some of the heaviest snow rates I've seen in Enfield. It's only 12/31. Even if January isn't good, we get some of the biggest snowfalls here in March. I'm at 20" with three months of potential snowfall yet to go. To each his own I guess.
  17. I'm skiing with my son on Thursday either at Butternut or Catamount. Should be pretty looking skiing with all the freezing rain that area received.
  18. Double last year's snowfall here already one week into Winter. Winter un-cancel.
  19. 1" of sleet, which I count as snow. 20" YTD.
  20. Berkshire East was deserted the day after Christmas, no more than 10-20 people in line for the quad at any one time. No snowmaking yet on most of the advanced terrain. The conditions weren't good, firm groomed over icy patches.
  21. An owl has taken up residence nearby to my house. Cool to hear it at night.
