One thing that keeps many of us in MA is retirement. No state taxes in SS or public pensions. That’s huge for some of us. Also, for a valuation well north of 1m, I’m paying under 10k property taxes. So I’m not sure how we got to be “taxachusetts” but It’s a good place to retire to in certain situations. Hopefully this system works out for us....if not..oh well.

18 inches of snow...we take. But it’s mainly pike region up to lower NH.

If you go 20 miles from Boston it’s manageable. What you can afford depends on your work/job. Property taxes in some places effectively adds 1-2k to your outlay.

It doesn’t look as intense as 2011-12 was which begin in October actually. That was a block hole. This is more shades of gray which actually show signs of lessening at the end of the runs but it’s ugly nonetheless
