Not only has it been wet here but Tuscon Arizona had its wettest July ever with over 7 inches of rain. Really helping in putting a dent in the drought.

Some good news out of the southwest. PHOENIX – A series of powerful storms that brought days of heavy rain to most of Arizona has made an impact on the drought. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 52% of the state is now in extreme or exceptional drought, down dramatically from 84% last week. Now, just 8.6% of the state is in the deepest drought category called exceptional. That’s down from 36% last week. University of Arizona climate scientist Mike Crimmins says Arizona just experienced “epic rainfall” and there couldn’t have been a better type of rainfall event in the summer to improve short-term drought conditions.

The pictures I have seen show a fenced in area with trees nearby. I don't see foliage right on top of it. Some pictures show the instruments in sun and others in shade. I don't know how updated the pictures are.

I think when climate becomes real extreme, far more extreme than global warming, the earth has ways to correct it.

Personally I don't think humans have to fear climate change. Don't get me wrong we should do what we can to prevent it, but it is gradual and we can change with it. I think what we should be most looking out for is a meteor. Like the dinosaurs it can end us almost immediately. By the way, I think if the earth could talk, when people say we have to safe the earth, the earth would laugh and say no way you can destroy me. We can destroy ourselves but not the earth.

Actually that is normal. At Amundson-Scott location the average January temperature (summer) in -16F and July is -75F. The average yearly is -54F. No wonder something like 90% of the worlds ice is in Antarctica.
