  1. That feeder band over the ocean looks to be moving due north and should hit NYC and Long Island. I think that can give us some good rains, not to mention the wind and embedded storms. So far no rain here except for a strong storm about 9PM last night.
  2. Yea I believe the only place to see winds like that would be at the beaches and over the water. Some of the airports may see some gusts near 50-60.
  3. Last night was one of the warmest nights I have had, in the past month.
  4. 1955 Connie and Diane within about a week. Caused some of the worst flooding ever seen in parts of the northeast, especially Ct.
  5. Overcast with an occasional light spritz of rain. Very soupy dew point 75. Breezy SSE wind, hopefully some rain at some point today. Sure feels like it but everything WNW.
  6. Looks like Long Island is missing the precip this morning, all looks to be well north and west. Hopefully before the day is thru something will pop up but I have my doubts. May have to wait for the tropical storm for any decent rain.
  7. The blowup of clouds and storms still look to be sheared off to the east somewhat.
  8. I don't know but I am wondering if the eye could be reforming closer to the thunderstorm activity. Another words a shift to the NE.
  9. There appears to be quite a blow up of thunderstorms near the eye. Apparently these thunderstorms are not vertically aligned but will have to watch to see if that changes. For anyone interested this is a pretty good hurricane info page. You can scroll down to the satellite view and see what I am talking about with the thunderstorm blow up. https://spaghettimodels.com/
  10. Yes the shear and dry air is no help at all. However the NHC indicated that the shear may not be as bad as originally thought. Anyway, it is not over the Andros Island anymore.
  11. Hurricane coming off Andros Island and it is about 150 miles to Miami. Now that it is over open water, we'll see what happens with intensification.
  12. There is southwest shear that is now affecting it and it is moving over Andros Island. It will be over very warm waters tonight and tomorrow and with less shear possible, it could still intensify some. It looks somewhat ragged now but the overall structure is staying in tact according the NHC.
  13. Those 2 tropical systems caused some of the worst flooding ever in our area, especially in Connecticut.
  14. Live cam from Port Nassau for anyone interested https://www.portnassauwebcam.com/
  15. An inland track doesn't mean that it will be weak. Of course it will be stronger if it stays over water but the major part of the storm will also be east of everywhere except possibly Long Island.
  16. I am about 6-7 miles west of Farmingdale airport. I only had 4 days with a minimum of 75 or above. Amazing the difference more grass compared to more concrete can do to the temperature. O course they may have had a lot of 75-76 degree lows where at my house it went to 72-73 degrees.
  17. About 2/3 of an inch of rain last night but a heavy bout of rain this morning took me over an inch.
