  1. Don't have to worry about a sea breeze putting a lid on the storms over Long Island tonight, there is none. 77 degrees here with little to no wind.
  2. Yes it is not looking good in the Arctic. It is nice to see a glimmer of hope every once in a while. I don't expect it to continue, we shall see.
  3. Even though Arctic seas ice has been on the decline, so far this season it is higher than previous seasons and higher than the 2010s average. The question is will it continue or is it just an aberration.
  4. Raining here. First measurable rain since midnight.
  5. Hit 93 here today, this is my longest heat wave of the season (4 days). I now have 17, 90 plus days this season.
  6. My second hottest day of the year with a high of 93.4
  7. Was down at Jones Beach tonight. I could see the over wash from Henri was substantial. Looks like the water went up to and under the boardwalk.
  8. I believe it was a Cat 2 briefly on Oct. 29 but when it came ashore it was a Cat 1 with 80mph winds. Regardless, my point was if Sandy took the typical hurricane track south to north, the severe flooding would not have happened in the NY and NJ area. That is what Sandy will be most remembered for. Being so large the energy was spread out with strong winds over a huge area.
  9. If Sandy did not take the track it took, it would have been just another Cat 1 hurricane for us. The track and slow speed created the historical flooding which Sandy will be remembered for.
