  1. Laura is holding together surprisingly well despite its weakness and interaction with land. This could become the first major storm of the season if it makes it to the Gulf and it appears like it will.
  2. The current NHC track has Laura going over the islands, Considering its already weak state, I wonder if it will ever make it to the Gulf.
  3. We have a chance of setting the record, however far from a guarantee.
  4. Yea 2005 was a bad year, especially for Florida. After that season we set a record by going 11 seasons in a row without a major hurricane hitting the United States.
  5. I understand what your saying that the SW is in a drought because their precip is below normal but lets not forget most of that area is a desert or close to it. They will always be in a drought.
  6. We now have Laura in the Atlantic, so far another weak system that is questionable on how strong it will ever get. Very much the theme of this hurricane season. I wonder if it is a record to make it to the "L" storm and not have any storm make it to a major category.
  7. I don't think you are alone with liking it milder. I believe the earth is warming, I just don't believe the gloom and doom scenario.
  8. Looks like the euro is similar to the GFS, with the best chance of 90 + temperatures on Friday, and possibly Thursday. then after that the Euro seems to have quite a cool down
  9. There is no doubt the temps have warmed thru out the area, city and country. I am simply saying on night time lows on no wind nights, the city is much warmer and last night was one of those nights. The heat island does nothing but get worse with all the large buildings going up the past 10 years, it is getting hard to tell where Manhattan ends and Brooklyn and Queens begin. So much building in western areas of Queens and Brooklyn.
  10. Latest GFS seems to show temps in the 80s until a quick brief cool down around Wednesday. Best chance for 90 looks like Friday or possibly Thursday.
  11. Hit the 30s in parts of upstate NY. They can have it, to early for that.
  12. Crisp temperatures in the upper 50s here this morning. Far NW suburbs in the 40s.
  13. Temperatures already dropping into the upper 50s in central NY around the Catskills. I'm sure plenty of 40s tonight for those folks.
  14. NWS has temps approaching 90 starting Sunday and remaining in the upper 80s to around 90 thru mid next week, for the NYC area. Sounds ok to me, good pool weather.
  15. Looks like good sleeping weather tonight, may even be some 40s well north and west. Signs of things to come, of course it looks like some warm weather again next week.
  16. .34 of an inch of rain today and 2 inches in the past 4 days here.
  17. I think your call of not forecasting near 100 degree temperatures this far out, is smart. Climatology really makes 100 hard this time of year, even at the hot spots like LaGuardia and Newark. Average temperatures are already on the way down and by the end of August will be down some 3-4 degrees.
  18. Well congrats to the euro for at least giving some showers to the area. So far today here, rainy and cool.
  19. Ok so a day ago it was suppose to be mostly sunny today and now there is a tornado warning. Yea I think this time the forcast was way off.
  20. Unexpected rain here early this morning and more unexpected rain appears to be moving in.
  21. Yea I am in the yellow zone between East Meadow and Levittown.I had 3/4 of an inch but just to my north it was worse and just to my south not much.
  22. I have had a thunderstorm sitting over my area the past hour that has dropped 3/4 of an inch of rain. Meanwhile just a short distance to my south it looks like sunshine. Reminds me of my days in Florida.
