  1. Already dropping into the 20s in many suburban areas. Probably would have been the coldest night outside the urban areas, if it did not cloud over.
  2. That 1950 storm seems like it was incredible. Could you imagine the hype if that occurred now.
  3. Yea just thinking the same. It feels wintry tonight.
  4. Just nasty here. 43 degrees, wind gusting to 24mph, light rain.
  5. Interesting article. I have found on calm, clear nights, the temperature difference can be surprising over very short distances. In February of 1979 Old Forge NY (not to far from Saranac Lake) hit the NY State record low of -52 degrees. Would have been interesting to know what the temperature was at Lake Clear that night.
  6. If it stays clear, the temperatures could hit single digits in parts of the Catskill and Adirondacks.
  7. Temperatures in parts of the Hudson Valley already in the upper 20s. 37 here.
  8. Looks like a stormy night tomorrow night. Heavy rain and winds near 40mph at times, especially near the coast. It has been a while.
  9. Forget the freeze watch where I am. It was 29 this morning and that is about the 4th or 5th time below freezing.
  10. Central Park is averaging a half degree below normal so far this month. Their average low is now 41°. The lowest they've been so far is 35°. This is only six degrees below their average low. UHI has a big effect when you're in a period of calm winds and calm weather.
  11. Looks like the first half of November will be about 1-3 degrees below normal for most of the area.
  12. Another night where the suburbs are some 10-15 degrees colder than the city.
  13. With early sunset, temperatures drop fast early evening. Already down to 40 here after a high of 48.
  14. Dropped below freezing last night around mid evening and stayed in the upper 20s all night. Just dropped to 27 my low for the day
  15. 2pm temps mid 40s, except Newark at 48. 45 at my house. I would think even the city may be 32 or 33 tonight.
  16. You want snow, Anchorage has plenty. As of Thursday 21 inches on the ground.
  17. With the UHI so strong in NYC, it seems they sometimes get their first snow before or around the same time as the first freeze.
