I wouldnt be surprised but I hope they dont win it. They will be blown out in the first playoff game.
I'm a Dolphins fan and I decree that if you loose to my Dolphins this year, you should be automatically disqualified from the playoffs.

I swear Wunderground used to provide that, but they don't seem to anymore.
Wunderground had a lot of cool stuff that they don't have any more. It has become almost unusable. I am really mystified at the reasoning behind turning it for a great weather enthusiast site to its current state.

I hope the "weaklies" are wrong.
What, they are so spectacular that should that pattern ever materialize, we will all become so spoiled that nothing less than a BECS will satisfy?

I like when they issue winter weather advisories for 5-8 inches where my son lives........
Well, I live in the NC Coastal Plain. Two inches shuts us down.

You know, if you grew up there, you probably wouldn't even care. From the NWS national summary page.
Further east, Winter Storm Watches have been issued for much of the Sierra Nevada where snow amounts will range from 1-3 feet through the weekend.

You seem to be in a dark place so I will throw out some numbers that might soothe the soul.
ESRL kept records on the GLAAM from 1958 to 2014. They no longer update that. There are places to get it but I just used those years of record.
In the last 50 years DCA has had 38 months with 6" or more of snowfall
The GLAMM was - 12 times, Neutral 14 times, and +12 times
DCA had 10" or more of snow 19 times
The GLAMM was - 6 times, Neutral 7 times, + 6 times.
There have been 17 seasons where 2/3 reporting stations had above normal snowfall during that period.
The GLAMM was - 6 times, Neutral 5 times, + 6 times.
Since 1950 the January/February months following a +AO December were
12 negative AO, 16 Neutral AO, 20 positive AO.
I am having trouble finding information differentiating AAM vs GLAAM. I know have seen GLAAM described as "Global Atmospheric Angular Momentum" and AAM as "Atmospheric Angular Momentum". So what is the difference?

With such hits as:
"Piece Left Behind"
"Sheared Apart"
"Jets Streaks"
and the classic "This Is the One: The Ballad of Ji"
I attended an acoustic performance of "Mosquitoes at Christmas" back in 2015.

FRD had a depressing post about the AO in the main thread. Maybe this is what many of the seasonals were picking up on with their warm December predictions? So far the eastern CONUS has been dodging the worst of the consequences. Never good to live on the edge of the cliff though.
Edit: Actually, sometimes it can be good to be on the cold side of the rain-to-snow transition line. Always nerve-racking though.

I find them much more pleasing to the ears and eyes than that 'ol Scorched and Torched group.
I've been at way too many of their concerts lately.

At 7-10 days away, they never giveth, only false hopes
Well they giveth plenty at 7 - 10, but then they take most if it away.

I'm shocked that the 1052hp on the 6z gfs disappeared. Much weaker cold push = blah
We of the SE forum just lost the wind in our sails. Maybe it will be back.

Worst one of my life was occurring today, 17 years ago. Still remember the eerie noise of trees popping all over the neighborhood that morning. Had to cut our way out. Brutal cold followed it without power meaning many nights huddled up as a family by the fireplace
Man I remember that well. I was in college at UNCG. A magical event. I remember that winter overall was quite nice.

I think the December’02 ice storm , was picked up 7+ days out, it’s not impossible
Last years early December NC special was picked up way in advance as well, especially by the FV3. Completely conned us about its reliability for the rest of the winter in terms of snowfall.

So what happened to make AFewUniversesBelow turn into just UniverseBelow? Did he loose some Universes?

January 1998. The Great North American Ice Storm. North Country of NY State up into Quebec were demoralized from 2-6" of freezing rain accretion. Trees in northern NY state are still bent over in spots to this day and will forever be that way from the weight of the ice. At the height of the storm, freezing rain fell into air as cold as 14 degrees.
I think if it rained on me with an air temp of 14 F, my head would explode.

Haven’t been there since I saw Webb’s epic meltdown a few days ago.
I don't think I have ever been to 33andrain, but I heard about the "nuclear" outbreak over there a few days ago. What did he start doing? Slapping people with a dead fish?

You shouldn’t have turned to Fitzpatrick if you wanted to tank. He has games like this and will win a few.
I should have known. The Dolphins can't even tank competently.

Sadly if the Eagles win out they still win the division on tie breakers with the Cowboys at 9-7. Today was a clinic in how to F up. Penalties. A trick play. A dropped pass that would have set up a first and goal at the 2. A missed FG. They are a poorly disciplined team.
As a a Dolphin's fan, I have a bone to pick with you guys. You've ruined our tank strategy.

Exactly and your OP was poking fun at grossly overstated red flags and not agreeing with it
Ah, thanks. People like me who aren't knowledgeable have a tendency to jump of the cliff like frightened lemmings whenever anyone shouts "torch".
In my defense, I may still be having flashbacks to December 2015. Thinking of that year still makes me shudder.

Yeah Mack, I don't see any big pushes of arctic air the next couple of weeks. No torches, but as you stated very normal (continental air masses). I wouldn't mind seeing an arctic front (Siberian Express) come trough; even if it just produced a dry outcome. Seems like it's been sometime since we've seen this in December.
Normal would be a win for December.

I have loved them since I was a little kid. I loved (and still am very interested in) whales and they were the closest thing to a whale. It has been a tough 15 years though. Maybe one day they will find their Brady/Belichek , without the evil.
