    The lousy 700 low track is always a red flag to me for a fast dryslot. We should easily make it to 12” but the 15+ amounts aren’t happening east of the city unless radar really regenerates.

    The sleet is probably associated with the incoming dry slot-losing heavy precip allows the warm air to come in. Looks like the HRRR will be more correct with the dryslot unless more precip fires up south of here.

    Just measured 9.5-10” in a few spots. Light to moderate now but will pick up again soon!

    There’s no sleet here-all snow. A bit of a lull at the moment but the next band is coming in hot.

    I highly doubt it. 20” could be doable but not 27.5” which is the record.

    Just about the only way something like this can happen in a mid-strong Nina this late in the season. Without it today would have been 55-60 and driving rain and Detroit would be seeing this.

    Also races the dryslot in for the city and east. The NAM has it being a little delayed and actually has good snow/precip in NYC until dark. Hopefully the NAM's right.

    Starting to ramp up here as this death band crawls north.

    Up to about 6" now, some places slightly more, some less. Wind's picking up pretty significantly and starting to blow the snow around. Light to borderline moderate I'd say

    Given how much most already have and the easterly jet moisture still to come in, most are good to end up well over a foot and even places east of the city are in the game for 18”.

    The places that have sleet or other mixing right now will go back to snow when the rates pick up. In drier patches there isn’t the lift needed to make good snowflakes which means there can be sleet or graupel instead.

    Just measured 5” on average here. Another good burst coming down now.

    27-28 degrees here, already 34 in Montauk. That’s unfortunately why amounts will be substantially less out there where it’s already above 32.

    Moderate snow and big flakes falling currently. Haven't measured yet but looks like a few inches or so. Fun fun day upcoming. 6z models all have upwards of 17-20" to come for my backyard through NYC.

    Yes-snow should consolidate and get heavier overnight as the moist easterly flow and strong lift take over.

    This will fill in and intensify as it reaches us. The storm is generating a little late for the DC area and models have the most precip to come from Philly on north/east.
