Minor to moderate winter event M-Tue Dec 16-17, 2019
BxEngine replied to wdrag's topic in New York City Metro
Also...final reminder that this isnt the NYC forum, its the ny metro forum. If parts of the metro area, including areas ~30 miles from nyc, are going to see frozen precip, it gets discussed here. -
Ill take that bet. Anyone within 30 miles of nyc proper sees snow and ice, you finally adhere to your claim(s) that you wont attempt to guess whats coming in this “difficult pattern”. deal?

Irishrob gonna be angry you called him a nerd. First time in his life hes been called that for sure.... I actually take a bunch of measurements. I have 3 boards (one that gets average sunlight, one that gets almost zero during the winter which is roughly 1/3 of my yard) and one that gets full sun from 8:30 am till about 2 pm. I also tend to check the yard and the tables to see how close they are. Over the course of a season it tends to average out pretty close, the obvious biggest difference is retention between the boards.

Your snow doesnt count, silly. This is the ny metro forum, which is only the 5 boroughs.

Or west, or north....

IF THE CURRENT WEATHER DOESNT INTEREST YOU, STOP POSTING! No one is forcing you to post here.

Roads covered, just under an inch. Guess my roads are special. Or maybe both extreme viewpoints here were wrong, as usual.

If youre going to get into a pissing match about what the models show (or your interpretation of the models), please try to post the models. Consider it a high school report...cite your sources.

I assume it would be exactly the opposite of the big winters around here lately when the trolls and pessimists still managed to poopoo every threat and every storm....had they been right we’d have roughly 1-3” of snow every winter.

Love that song even if he ruined it with that damn rain line lol
-
Its a good thing we’re behind last years snow. The november snow ruined winter so we’re in good shape. /sarcasm

Rjay got married so hes not...

Ok guys....

In other words, if wishing for snow is eagles fans, being a douchey obnoxious ass for no reason than to toot your own horn or to troll is patriots fans and sox fans combined.

This forum (and its former) have a history of people making claims of absolutes, all in the name of pushing back against wishcasting. One only needs to read the first few pages of nearly every single winter month thread going back a decade to find “the season is over”, “the pattern doesnt support snow”, etc...and yet here we are, with one of our snowiest decades in a long time. While the wishcasting and snow goggles are incredibly annoying, some of us find the posts by supposedly intelligent people who are only here to troll or try to be first to claim they had a bad pattern right much worse in the grand scheme of things. Especially when everyone here is supposedly of an age where acting like an asshole is typically frowned upon outside of ps4 games.

To be fair, the rest of the reaity check is: this was also the only place that had numerous people claim this was going to be a cutter without redevelopment, that no one in the entire metro would see more than 1/2” (im sitting at 4 right now), and that we had already written off december in middle november. The pessimists only see the obnoxious optimistic posts and respond, and the optimists only see the contrarian pessimistic posts and respond.- 795 replies

So i made the amateur mistake of not cutting my grass lower so the snows look heavier during situations such as this. Almost 3” on the boards, looks like a coating on my tall grass
-
Cant tell if thats a good thing or not...

It went from mood flakes to consistently moderate snow about 45 minutes ago, about an inch last hour or so.
