Snow sticks to the top of the grass, i bury the ruler all the way to the frozen ground underneath, can easily inflate my totals another 2” sometimes lol. of course on the flip side is the guys who poopoo 1-3” snowfalls saying “it wont stick on the roads we wont get that much the models are wrong”…because we measure on 42nd street apparently.

We dont live in buffalo. Many areas of our sub just received our biggest snow in a few years, and a few of those places will end december above average in snowfall. Asking for more than that because a cutter is coming is insane.

Almost zero chance we avoid some way above average days starting at the end of next week. Whether its sustained or not is a different animal.

Ok, but none of that answered why 100 miles south of here its fully plausible for a fast pattern to produce 2-4” of snow but here in the nyc metro area we shouldnt expect that. Comparing differences in model runs is one thing, claiming that we shouldnt expect an outcome because of a certain background state while ignoring that the model being spoken about simply shifted that axis of snow south, is a completely different argument. If it can be proven scientifically that a fast progressive flow can produce advisory level snows south of here but not here, then lets get that going. Id love to learn.
