Guys the rest of the night is going to be impressive. The forcing that is here and coming through is impressive. Buckle in because it's going to be a great night.

We are right near 5 inches give or take. It's so dang windy. It's wind whipped snow.

Absolutely getting hammered at the moment. Probably the heaviest the snow has been all day. Legit whiteout conditions.

It's sketchy for sure. I was over in Bear Lake today and it was wild because they had blue sky. Got to Haywood and they had whiteout conditions....

Yeah at sunset I watched the roads in Canton turn white on literally 10 minutes because of whiteout conditions. I know roads are white in Canton, Crabtree, Finest Creek, and the backroads along the river.

Cannot stress enough of how much of a classic NW upslope event this will be.

Yeah literally you can go a half mile and the weather will be different. Going to be a great event for us.

We are socked in Probably going to stay that way for 24 hours or so.

The last few frames of the radar you can really see the moisture start to blossom to our NW. Boy this evening and tonight is going to rock.

30 degrees with about a half inch accumulation. Been snowing lightly all morning.

39 and misting currently. Wind has picked up as well.

Yeah the NAM looks really good. Gives the Asheville airport nearly 2 inches of snowfall.

NAM rolling in. Looking really good even down into some of the valleys.

Rain finally letting up a bit. We've seen better storms this winter than this past spring and summer...

Yeah temp dropped from 62 to 46 with this line blowing through.

Yeah no kidding. Big time storm rolling through. Freaking torrential rainfall.

Pea size hail hitting now. Embedded storm is strengthening.

Big time cell fixing to hit me. Torrential rainfall and high winds.

The wind is really picking up ahead of this squall line. Heads up for the SW mountains.

To the newbies on here that are fixing to enjoy this upslope dream don't really worry about totals and what not at this point. As eyewall pointed out with flow snow as long as you have a strong signal things will proceed. This is different than a synoptic storm. All models have a difficult time with flow snow because we have so many peaks above 3500' and we have some really small microclimates in the mountains that can produce huge totals given the right setup. The signal is there still very much so and at this point just sit back and wait for tomorrow morning to come.
