Already pumping the basement after Thu/Fri delivered 1.5+ here. The two worst floods since living here (Aug '08) were the already mentioned hurricane remnant in Sept of '08 and ofc just 2 years ago in Feb 2018 when the Kzoo river valley set record flood levels due to the heavy rain on top of rapid melt-off of that deep snow pack. Autumn of 2016 (or was it 2015?) was also bad now that I think of it. Just too damned much flooding lately. Tired of drying my basement so often. It's been beyond ridiculous but as said "it's what we do"

And when a goat and a piece of fruit can test "positive", it calls into question just what being positive for C-19 really means? Those two medical doctors in California that arranged an interview with their local TV station said the numbers were pointing towards a 99.97% likelihood of SURVIVING the virus (for healthy people ofc). I know there are plenty here who have bought into the fear factor hook line and sinker. But this qualifying as a "pandemic" has never passed the sniff test in my opinion. CBS news even staged a line-up of vehicles in Grand Rapids to make it seem worse since there weren't that many people seeking a test when they arrived with their filming crew. I was passing through Hesperia (WMI) yesterday and decided to grab some wine from their local supermarket. The only people with masks were elderly, and the workers (some of which just pulled them up around the old folks) like my cashier. To that stat wrt the Midwest not wearing masks as much as southerners, maybe outside the major cities there's some truth to it.

I ofc, was a young dude living in Genesee Cnty that winter and not only did the mid-November bliz and subsequent clipper lay down a surprising amount of snow for so early, it stayed cold afterwards similar to this past Nov. I was able to get my snowmobile out and would've ridden quite a bit except it was having some issues running so that got foiled (wasn't expecting to run it before late Dec, lol). Dec and Jan were both decent for snow cover and cold, but as you mentioned, there was a significant thaw/warm spell in January that ended with yet another 2 foot bliz for NMI. We had some wicked S winds during that event which destroyed an old metal shed I had inherited with my place. That sticks out in my memory. There was even a confirmed TOR somewhere in CMI that afternoon. Extremely strong bombing SLP that must've been right over lower MI. Just enough north of the November track to keep SMI out of the backside snow unfortunately. I moved to Traverse that September, and got to hear all the stories of how Peeps were stranded at work that day. Was prolly a lot like the March 5th, 2012 storm for that region but with stronger winds.

The MSM hype machine is like a dog on a bone with this and won't let go until every last person is running scared. IMO, they are paid hacks. Paid/controlled to generate a narrative of fear. Fear will steal your will and when you lose your will, your freedoms soon follow. Don't fall for it! Use discernment and pull the curtain back on MSM outlets to find "the rest of the story" and most importantly, the unbiased truth.

Toured the western U.P. (the one and only time) that following July of '90 where they'd had 14+" IIRC. Peeps were still talking about the huge May snowstorm even then. Spent the night in Munising. Stepped out to 37F and a very frosted car in mid-July! From firsthand experience, 1989-90 was a much better winter for most of the Mitt except perhaps far SEMI. I'd say only Detroit's historic storm this past Nov was on par. Oddly, the one corner of the state NOT slammed by the Nov '89 blizzard. Wx will even itself out over time..
