Flooding reports starting to come in from NW NJ and especially across SE NY State. Rockland and Orange counties getting hit especially hard. Multiple water rescues in progress.
Its the same MO from the same people every single larger scale weather event. They can't call it a bust before it is supposed to happen, at least wait until it actually doesn't. It's called weenie assumption syndrome.
The activity also started pretty early in the day so it was obviously NW areas would get it first. I don't think the HPC would have most areas in a moderate risk for excessive rainfall (including portions of the NYC metro) if the activity wasn't expected to move further east with time.
Agreed. Those are always going to be the more favored areas but that certainly doesn't mean areas further east won't get in on the heavy rain later. If I get 1-2" out of today and tonight that will be a win as far as I am concerned. More then that will be a bonus.
Yeah Sunday looks like the "main show" especially during the afternoon and evening but there could be additional heavy rain/storms Saturday and Monday as well.
If the 00z GFS is right there will be widespread 2-4" rainfall amounts across the region in the Saturday thru Monday timeframe. Maybe even locally higher amounts.
