  1. 82/71 temp split today...another 70°+ min which gives me 41 now this season which ties with three other years for most. Rainfall of 0.50" this morning and 1.24" tonight for a 1.74" total.
  2. 78/61 temp split today with the onshore wind.
  3. Normals for my station for today are 80/62 so just about spot on. Can certainly see some more 70°+ mins coming up by midweek adding to that record number.
  4. Close today with an 88 degree high here...Did add on two more 70 degree mins however, yesterday and today.
  5. Muggy 81/73 currently with 0.10" rain after 0.14" yesterday.
  6. Summer rainfall here of 13.54" was just about normal.
  7. Some 90° temps are still likely but it becomes much harder to string them together like you can earlier.
  8. Have had 25 days of 90+ this year so far.
  9. ^^^^ I remember that storm well...My wife and I had a meeting that we had to attend the next morning in Manhattan...Had to shovel out the car at 4am and drive a couple miles to catch the bus into the city.
  10. Hard to pick out a favorite snowstorm but the boxing day storm may be it for me...The storm itself coupled with it occurring around Christmas...We always would go to my parents on Christmas day to celebrate...Knowing there was a blizzard coming the next day seemed too good to believe.
  11. I didn't know about the story of Stephan Baltz...Wow so sad...I was 11 months old when that accident occured.
  12. Wow the early stuff...Had the aneroid barometer...not too good as you mentioned, remember always tapping it? Had a mercury min/max thermo..it had these little markers inside the glass that would stay at the highest and lowest readings..push a button to reset. It had a 6 ft cable which you put out the window. I've had a lot of equipment...Much of it I still have sitting in the basement...looks like a weather museum. First digital unit was a heathkit thermometer...remember those?
  13. My first weather equipment and first written observations started at around 10 years of age, maybe earlier. I'm now close to 60.
  14. Alan Kasper is an idol to a lot of us older folks...I learned a lot growing up listening to him.
  15. Long time ago, don't remember lol.
  16. Ok I checked my records...that storm was on the 5th-6th...i had 0.52" of precip and 4" of snow for the event, here on SI.
  17. If I recall correctly, the March 2001 storm wasn't a rain bust but a too far East development for snow bust...at least for more western locations. I remember listening to one of the accuwx mets saying how the storm would be moving west closer to the coast...and I kept looking at radar saying no it wont.
  18. One specific storm I remember from a young age was tropical storm Doria in 1971...I remember the flooding on the side of our house where my rain gage was...So I've been at this weather observing thing for a long time.
  19. My hottest was 100° in 2010 and lowest 51° in 1986.
  20. I noticed you started this thread 8 years ago....That's heat dedication
  21. Keep in mind that noaa hasn't predicted a below normal winter in the NE in a long time...I believe it's something like 10 to 15 years? At my station, going back 18 years it's split evenly between above and below normal winters as are the last 10 years. The last three winters have averaged above however. Lot of cold Marches lately, if you want to extend things.
