  1. Snow has slacked up for the last hour as the band moved south into Kingsport. Snow is half melted now. I think MRX does have a point about sun angle this time of February. Of course rates will always overcome sun angle if the snow is heavy enough. Temp is up to 33.
  2. Been snowing for an hour now. Ground is almost completely white. Dropped from 39 to 32 really quick.
  3. 34 in Gate City but 41 in Kingsport. Really good wind coming out of the northeast currently.
  4. 0z HI-RES NAM is wanting to move the line into the mountains by morning.
  5. The line appears to be making good progress eastward. I guess time till tell where it may get hung up at.
  6. Really concerned about the Plateau counties into SE KY tonight and into the morning. If the 18z HI-RES NAM is to be believed 4-6” of rain will fall by tomorrow afternoon. 23z HRRR shifts the axis of the heavy rain of 4-5” from over Chattanooga up the spine of the mountains. Anyway you slice it someone in our forum area will have some very dangerous flash flooding.
  7. Off topic but already some rumbles of Thunder this evening.
  8. I had to stop off side of road on 11W between Bristol and Kingsport. Intense but quick burst of wind.
  9. Already sitting at 32. NAM and HI-RES NAM are way off on temps. RGEM seems to be doing much better. But, it shows freezing rain in the morning.
  10. Small chance of some snow or mixed precip Tuesday morning as shortwave rolls through. 12z Hi-RES NAM shows snow for northern valley. Other models are warmer with mainly rain or a slight mix.
  11. Records highs today and now some lightning strikes and rumbles of thunder. I was sweating walking 18 holes today.
  12. I ended up with 1”. Season total 2”. -11” from last year at this date.
  13. Finally getting some heavier snow. Ground is very saturated.
  14. Still waiting on the full transition to snow...... 35 degrees here
  15. 12 NAM is much weaker with post frontal moisture. 3km NAM has a stronger backend as it moves thru. Interested to see RGEM and other models with regards to QPF behind the front.
  16. I would say a little over an inch. Areas outside of Gate City got 2 or more.
  17. Flakes are very fine right now and not big flakes.
  18. Joining the club with all snow at 32 with a dusting.
  19. I’m curious to see today if short range models back down on QPF after the changeover. It’s happened a few times before leading up to an event lol. So far the 12z NAM holds serve. Solid 2-3 inches across entire area.
  20. 0z NAM with its beefiest run yet! Widespread 2-4 across the state. High totals out west but may be mixed with a good amount of sleet. Backside snow is stronger this run 10-12z in the valley.
