Looking like tomorrow may be the last day of 90s this year, at least in the Lehigh Valley. The pattern for the next few weeks looks to be dominated by cold fronts coming in from Canada and the Great Lakes. And by the time the pattern breaks it’ll be really tough to get intense heat and humidity back into the area given the time of year.

The cold front has arrived here. That breeze from the north feels so nice. And it’s supposed to get much chillier!

Last night was perfect. Got a decent amount of rain along with a lot of lightning and thunder. But all the training storms and flooding rains missed - and just barely, too, western and northern Lehigh County got smoked. Hoping we can get some more today before we get a little taste of fall for the next few days.

I’m about 3-4 miles south of 22. Radar has looked nasty that way. Finally getting some heavy rain here from a new cell that just popped up.

Getting missed by the training storms so far today. Lots of thunder and lightning though.

Well that’s disappointing. No exciting weather likely around here for weeks…I really wanted to see some aurora tonight to make up for it.

Forecast for tonight is mostly clear with very few clouds. Let’s hope we can get a good show.

Heard the aurora was fading after midnight last night so I decided to go to bed. From what I’m reading it perked up again past 2 am. I regret not staying up for it.

Northern lights are apparently visible over much of the US tonight. Anyone seeing them? I’m wondering if I should make the drive to northwestern Lehigh County where there’s not much light pollution.

Aside from those of us in the Lehigh Valley who have gotten lucky with mesoscale events, we’ve all been in a serious snow drought for the last 2 winters. We’re due for a decent winter.

Slight risk for the region tomorrow with a big 5% tornado area. Could get pretty interesting. Doesn’t look very chaseable unfortunately as storm motion will be pretty quick and it’s likely that they’ll be rain wrapped.

This rain is great for me as a food delivery driver. These are some of the busiest weeknights I’ve had in awhile and I’m making some good money this week. I almost don’t want the sunny weather and low humidity next week!

Cooler and less humid weather looks to continue for another week and a half. It feels really nice. I’m hoping it lasts into next weekend as I’m playing a tennis tournament in Princeton.

Enhanced risk now north of the turnpike and west of 476. Looks like the primary threat is wind. You can already see this evening’s action starting to take shape in western PA.

SPC has a slight risk in place for most of us today. Short range models show a pretty intense line passing through sometime between 7-11 pm. Could be a fun evening.

Probably won’t be as bad as Isaias or Ida but flood prone areas are gonna get hit pretty bad.

The lightning in the stratiform rain behind the storms is better than the lightning I’ve seen with actual storms this year.

Temp has dropped into the low 70s. Even with the humidity it feels so refreshing. Not much time for temps to recover so hopefully it won’t get too hot again.

Better that this is coming early in the day here, Musikfest is likely to be packed tonight. I’ve been to Musikfest before during rain and storms and it turns into chaos.

Looked at the radar and saw that the approaching storm was fizzling. Then BOOM, huge CG bolt less than a mile away. Nice little consolation prize.

More swamp ass weather today and tomorrow. Lovely. At least we have a marginal risk to look forward to tomorrow and Saturday.

Yet another nice storm here in Allentown. This has been one of the most active periods for storms I can remember around here. Unfortunately it looks like today is the last day of it for a little while. Good thing the trade-off is milder and less humid weather which I will take any day.

Quick but fairly intense storm just passed right over me in Allentown. A few minutes of heavy, wind driven rain, and some nice CG bolts.

SPC has a slight risk today and tomorrow. Will probably be our last decent chance at severe weather for a week or two.
