  1. I guess no one cares about leslie, one of the most prolific swell generators of all time. The entire western Atlantic has had swell for over a week already with more to come
  2. Misty drizzle in wantagh currently with the marine layer. I would kill for a couple days of Canadian high pressure and offshore winds. All this onshore flow is ruining the large swell we are receiving from Leslie the storm that never dies.
  3. interesting storm in wantagh. Winds were all over the place. NE over to W. Below severe threshold.
  4. One of the best squall lines I have seen on radar in a long time. Great light show on the UWS. Headed back to the island now
  5. Absolutely nothing to speak of on Manhattan so far. I really want to go home or I would stay at work and wait for the line to get here
  6. I like the bow echo in fairlfield ct! That’s gotta have damaging winds
  7. I would add 92-93 for the epic December nor’easter and March blizzard. And 02-03 which I experienced in Towson MD where we had 33” from the Presidents’ Day storm. Still the largest single snow storm I have experienced. I spent allot of time last March in southern Vermont where there was 80”+. 18”, 36” and 22” for the big three. Incredible snow pack.
  8. I’m definitly not. It’s nice to be able to work outside and not be pouring sweat.
  9. Yeah this is pretty awesome. Speaking of awesome what a great early fall day! My favorite of all types of fair weather!
  10. Ummm, is this a surprise? It wasn’t a big deal anyway at least on the UWS. Just a few minutes of heavy rain, barely any wind or lighting. Just a typical early fall cold frontal passage. I do remember a squall line growing up around this time of year that caused some tree damage. Maybe early 90s. So it can happen.
  11. I’m a big proponent of follow the trends so going by that watch south jersey and the Hudson valley get slammed
  12. Full sunshine and steamy in nyc currently. If we can get the line to speed up a little we could see a wide spread wind event.
  13. Makes sense. We are in the marine layer out here currently. If we can get an organized squall line I could see it making a decent way out on to the island. But the beat chance will definitely be from the city west.
  14. Wantagh meso up to 2.16” since this was reported. Great info, baring a very dry end to the year it looks like we crack the top 10.
  15. That’s where the cheap or undelveloped land was located for reason. Things look to be calming down now in the city. SWCT must have some serious flooding now with a large area 5”+
  16. 1” just from one shower in wantagh. Pretty impressive rates
  17. Even better, try to drive through in a low vehicle. Definitely one of the advantages of driving a truck. But I also know the water depth I’m driving through in my neighborhood. (Coastal flooding prone) dumping again on the uws.
  18. There’s a very strange area of precip forming on radar down over ocean county heading north. Anyone have any idea what that is?
  19. Ripping (rain) on the uws right now. Starting to get some ponding on campus. Surprised there is no advisory or warning for Manhattan
  20. That’s the queens giant, and it’s the oldest and largest living tree in NYC. That tree is incredible and has a huge hollow in the middle you can go into. That whole grove is spectacular. There are several other massive tulips and one red oak that I would think is the biggest of its species in NYC. I didn’t know you grew up in the Bayside area.
  21. I’ve storms are very rare on the south shore. The last time we had over .25” accretion was back in January 94. I did loose a 12” diameter branch during the middle nor’easter last March with 6” of wet snow. Tulip is generally the tallest and longest lived tree in this area. There is a grove of (I assume) old growth tulips in my town. 5 trees 100’+ tall and several feet in diameter. I assume they are old growth because they have very furrowed bark and large missing limbs that have completely grown over. As big and majestic as they are they have nothing on this one random cottonwood. I’ll have to take a pic to post here. It’s more then double the height of the surrounding forest and is visible for miles
  22. Basically follows the 2,000’ contour. It would be early but not unheard of in the Adirondacks, greens and whites. .50” so far in wantagh. Looks like from here out most of the precip is north and west which follows some of the modeling
  23. Out here on the island it was during the storm earlier this month. I will agree it was pretty windy in the city earlier today
