  1. Trash collection came super early today. I mean, in the 10 months I've lived here, it's never come before 8am on collection day. Somebody at the main office must be tuned in to what's going on... Everybody's saying there is low model confidence leading up to today's events what with the MCS descending from our NW. I'm not seeing much in the way of shear, and CAPE seems to be relatively low throughout the day (1000-1500) but LI values seem a little bit more interesting, possibly dipping to -4 over our area if I'm reading the RAP right. Could we (or at least our northern tier) be under a classic Larko's Triangle setup this evening? Daytime heating will struggle under our present cloud deck but there's certainly enough moisture with DP forecasted at or above 70°F this afternoon. This will be interesting to watch develop over the course of the day. Glad I'm working from home today
  2. If memory serves, I remember getting a ton of rain in one summer storm that completely flooded the neighboring creek in a way that we'd never seen before. I remember going out in my wellies with a neighbor friend and stomping around in the periphery (!!!) and just marveling at how much water there was in a place where the stream is usually only a foot deep. It flooded it's banks and must have been 10 ft deep in the center of the channel, though of course we never got close to that. This would have been the summer before high school and I was definitely an outdoor kid. Thanks for sharing that Agnes! Looks like it's clouding over just a bit over here; it's actually quite pleasant outside at the moment.
  3. Forum's quiet today, just like the weather. On track to hit 90+ for the third day in a row here, but at least it's slightly less humid than it has been.
  4. Yes please! Looking at spending nearly all of August in the field. Currently IMBY:
  5. Checking random PWS around my parent's house under that storm last night shows about .9" of precip, so not bad for them.
  6. My parents are under that in SW ChesCo, they say it poured for a good long while this evening and now it's non-stop thunder and lightning.
  7. FINALLY finished smoking/roasting that pork shoulder, took 15 hours. Way longer than I had thought it would take, but omg it's good. Anyway, it's noticeably warm out right now. Not looking forward to heating up again over the next few days, but at least I'll be int he office come Monday instead of out in the field. I'm testing chrome in dark mode now. Kinda like it, kinda still getting used to it...
  8. Hit a low of 59 this morning, currently almost 70. DP has crept up just a little bit but still in the low 60's. Time to fire up the smoker once again!
  9. Got down to 57°F at the house this morning. Enjoying the birds and the crisp, cool air with my windows open in the home office this morning. I'm actually looking forward to mowing my lawn this evening for a change
  10. Right? My wife was texting me about all the rain and hail; it must have been really small because it melted before she could catch a break from work to go check it out. We got 1.03", and I got home just before that last line of storms rolled through.
  11. I can believe it. I'm currently working in southern NJ and we had quite the gale rip through our site this afternoon. Went from "Oh, that's a nice breeze" to "OMG the shade canopy is about to lift off into outer orbit" in about 2 seconds. It's usually tethered with 20 lb sand bags but these were no match for the winds this afternoon. I think we got it down in just the knick of time though.
  12. My wife snapped this tonight through the living room window. Looks like Tatooine.
  13. Day 2 of 4 of working outside this week. Yesterday was hot but tolerable; today was hotter with less breeze but at least the sun wasn't too harsh (due to clouds and all that smoke). I think we got up to 88 at work (with a forecast high of 92). Looking forward to possible afternoon boomers tomorrow!
  14. Same. What a beautiful day after roasting all last week. Getting in some grilling and smoking for the week's meal prep.
  15. Rest of the region looks like it's getting some good rain tonight. Oh well, at least it's cooled down!
  16. Sat outside for a while and watched it ever so gently shower off and on for a half hour, putting .03" in the gauge. Looks like a half-decent line might come through in a little while though.
  17. Wind picking up and sky darkening to my west. Looking forward to this. Might just sit in my garage with the doors up in a camp chair and sip a beer while it pours. (Hopefully it pours.)
  18. We actually warmed back up slightly. AND the DP increased.
  19. It's certainly cooled off quite a bit. Planning on grilling in a little bit, actually. Still moist though.
  20. Looks like the area east of B'more is getting the same treatment Bensalem got earlier this week with a stationary downpour.
  21. Yeah I think there's a missed marketing opportunity there. It'll be super helpful when they all become adults since you can get pretty close to them before they jump away. One of my coworkers got one after I told him about it and said he's been having fun turning flies into "walks". I about died laughing.
  22. Anybody getting wet yet? We've had maybe 2 drops. More storms are forming to the west and temps/DP's are still up there (though we've fallen to the upper 80's mercifully).
  23. Amazing. That big storm that was headed my way SPLIT IN TWO. It's going to go completely around me. What the heckin' heck.
  24. It was a couple of weeks ago, I don't think I've seen then since (might have been a one-off kinda thing--you can see them on the website but it shows unavailable at my location). However you can get them on Amazon for about the same price ($40 ish).
