  1. We got the barest hint of a sprinkle earlier today, and it's looking like a repeat for tomorrow. Not really digging this heat and humidity without the temporary relief of a solid downpour now and then. We were originally forecasted for isolated T-storms all weekend (which I guess has proven true for other locales) and then stormy early next week. Now I see the storm threat has been pushed to Tuesday. We shall see it if plays out at all.
  2. I'm right there with ya. I'll be putting in my hours tomorrow morning as early as possible...
  3. Just noticed we're under a "hazardous weather outlook". Hoping for that free skywater later today to help with all my watering! Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 0430 AM EDT Sat Jun 26 2021 PAZ060-270830- Berks- 0430 AM EDT Sat Jun 26 2021 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Berks County in Pennsylvania. .DAY ONE...Through tonight. There is a low probability of widespread hazardous weather.
  4. Looking forward to a backyard campfire tomorrow night to celebrate the end of my work week (currently on 4x10 schedule). This week has been very nice to work outside.
  5. While I obviously can't speak for RS, and while I'm also an unrepentant snow and cold weather lover, I do love me some hot summer days on occasion. Specifically, hot, humid and sunny weather calls out to my inner crab-fisher. I call it crabbing weather because it somehow seems so right to spend a hot af day on the water, pulling up morsels of tasty goodness from the briny deep. Add ice-cold beer (and maybe an impromptu picnic bbq on the shore/beach) to the mix, and boom: * chef's kiss * heaven. So what are everyone else's favorite "hot weather things to do"? P.S. I do not have a boat but I do have a kayak. I mostly crab from seawalls/piers.
  6. Kind of feels like we're splitting hairs here. I mean, here's the local airport (KRDG) less than a mile from my house and at a similar elevation, and I kind of have to assume they have a better setup than I do: This is actually lower than what was recorded from the NOAA (highlighting is mine), though it says these results are still pending verification (which seems a couple of days behind): But you have raised a valid complaint in which my personal station certainly does not meet the criteria you have laid out. It's the first iteration of my PWS and therefore reduced cost was the prime motivator in getting one up and running. In the short term, I think I might want to rig up another remote sensor (Arduino, perhaps) to record and log shade temps. In the long term, I hope to be able to afford a much fancier unit. That said, one of the things I was most looking forward to when buying my house was to be able to log IMBY weather data over the long term, so your feedback (and post history, and personal website which is btw awesome!) is most welcome, thank you.
  7. .07" in the back yard station. I'll take another look when I get up in the morning--we've got a lot of brand new plants in the ground that could really use a good soaking.
  8. So far we're getting pretty fringed up here IMBY. Plenty of flashy-flash boom-boom, but just a few sprinkles to show for it. .03" in the rain meter so far.
  9. Looks like we also hit 90+ today (right around 3pm). Thank goodness for that breeze though! It made working outside somewhat tolerable. Looks like there are currently some boomers over the horizon with another line of storms a couple of hours behind. Should be an interesting evening
  10. It's a PWS mounted on a pole way above my shed. It seems to track pretty well with other local readings: This is an Amazon link to what I have installed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085T83Q7F/?coliid=I1UF5VN4PGI38P&colid=2A1ZCW2FEO3RX&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  11. Two days in a row above 90, and looking to hit again tomorrow. Two heat waves already this year! Booooo
  12. I was literally JUST NOW telling my wife that the countdown to fall starts tomorrow.
  13. It hasn't even started yet! Lol jk of course we started meteorological summer several weeks ago. To each their own though, and I hope you get to enjoy some more hot days, but as someone who primarily works outside in full dress hazmat gear I'll take this week's (and today's) cooldown gladly thankyouverymuch.
  14. Just chiming in to say that this week has been very pleasant to work outside in, especially compared to last week's roaster. I wish we could have this all summer.
  15. Thanks. I've got Radarscope on PC but it doesn't show the kind of resolution/coverage/smoothing that GRL3 appears to. I might have to look into that.
  16. So my next question is going to be obvious... What site/app are you using?
  17. Man, none of the radars are picking up the light showers moving over Berks. Makes me wish we could have back yard radar systems akin to our PWS. Like, how do you even plan for anything when the forecast is wrong less than a day out and you can't even see what's coming on the radar? What year is this, anyway? /rant
  18. I think we were originally forecasted .25", then that went down to .1" this morning. So far we're almost to .5". Wife is happy she doesn't have to water the plants tonight.
  19. Yes please. Really enjoying this after working outside all week.
  20. Found one in my back yard! Wife was gardening when she heard a "THWAP" against the side of the house. She sent me this while I was at work earlier. Don't know where he came from but it has to be local, right? He did fly away after she took this. Also there are definitely a bunch more if you drive I-176 about a mile south of the 422.
  21. What weird storms these are. Nearly stationary and just DUMPING water. Yesterday at work there was a huge supercell to my north, today there was one to my south. Didn't have to drive through any on the way home today (thankfully). My mom wanted to know what the weather is gonna do tonight (in case she had to put the horses in due to thunderstorms) and I just basically sent her a shrug emoji. Told her to play it safe and keep them in lest one of these monsters decides to park over her house!
  22. Yeesh. Drove home from Pennsville, NJ to Reading. It poured (with bonus thunder and lightning) the entire length of the turnpike, then clear on 176, then rain again on 422. Luckily no major incidents, just exhausting after a full day of working outside in this miserable heat. Rinse and repeat for tomorrow and Thursday...
  23. My wife has the week off and she's been planning on putting in some more plants around the house. It was cloudy earlier so away she went. I heard her digging outside my office for a little while, and then I saw the sun come out--two seconds later she noped out and came inside. But she's determined, now that she's started, so we set up the 10' pup-up canopy for her to dig under. More power to her! (I'd help her, but I'm on light & limited duty today. Thank goodness. )
  24. I can't remember how much we got but it was a lot! This was two moves ago from our apartment in West Chester.
