  1. Drove through that really big line on the turnpike heading west. It got dark enough to where I had to take off my sunglasses and then it absolutely DUMPED. Traffic slowed to a crawl, of course, but I made it through unscathed. That was fun. Got home and measured .64" in the back yard meter. Yay, free skywater!
  2. Good luck! We got .03". Hope there's more free skywater tomorrow!
  3. HUGE storms all around me. Getting absolutely FRINGED. Dammit.
  4. 98.7°F right now IMBY (reached a high of 98.9). Got up to 96 at work, but again, the breeze and slightly lower humidity helped a ton. I am so done with working outside this week... One more day though and then it's my weekend.
  5. Yeah you'll need RedSky to tell you it's not hot enough.
  6. Might I also recommend an outer layer of impermeable Tyvek? Wouldn't want to sully your clothing, after all. Oh, and make sure you're using the OSHA-recommended gas vapor P100 filter cartridges on that full-face respirator just to make breathing that much more difficult enjoyable.
  7. Home thermometer peaked at 97.8°F, but it "only" made it up to 94 at work today. Just two more days to go and then I'm off on Friday. This heat is nuts, but we had a nice breeze again today which made it somewhat tolerable. Still hoping for some afternoon boomers tomorrow and Thursday!
  8. Today's high IMBY was 96.8°F (currently 94). Only hit 92 at work though, so there's that...
  9. A couple of days ago, the forecast called for rain/t-storms for each day this week, starting today. Yesterday the storms were pushed back to Tuesday. It has now changed to maybe some rain on Thursday. I get that forecasting is an incredibly difficult endeavor, but that's borderline ridiculous. I mean, why even bother? Rhetorical question. It's just disheartening as a rain/snow lover to continuously see my hopes for a downpour/blizzard dashed again and again and again. /rant
  10. I'm reading almost exactly the same as the local airport (aside from the wind) imby:
  11. We got the barest hint of a sprinkle earlier today, and it's looking like a repeat for tomorrow. Not really digging this heat and humidity without the temporary relief of a solid downpour now and then. We were originally forecasted for isolated T-storms all weekend (which I guess has proven true for other locales) and then stormy early next week. Now I see the storm threat has been pushed to Tuesday. We shall see it if plays out at all.
  12. I'm right there with ya. I'll be putting in my hours tomorrow morning as early as possible...
  13. Just noticed we're under a "hazardous weather outlook". Hoping for that free skywater later today to help with all my watering! Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 0430 AM EDT Sat Jun 26 2021 PAZ060-270830- Berks- 0430 AM EDT Sat Jun 26 2021 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Berks County in Pennsylvania. .DAY ONE...Through tonight. There is a low probability of widespread hazardous weather.
  14. Looking forward to a backyard campfire tomorrow night to celebrate the end of my work week (currently on 4x10 schedule). This week has been very nice to work outside.
  15. While I obviously can't speak for RS, and while I'm also an unrepentant snow and cold weather lover, I do love me some hot summer days on occasion. Specifically, hot, humid and sunny weather calls out to my inner crab-fisher. I call it crabbing weather because it somehow seems so right to spend a hot af day on the water, pulling up morsels of tasty goodness from the briny deep. Add ice-cold beer (and maybe an impromptu picnic bbq on the shore/beach) to the mix, and boom: * chef's kiss * heaven. So what are everyone else's favorite "hot weather things to do"? P.S. I do not have a boat but I do have a kayak. I mostly crab from seawalls/piers.
  16. Kind of feels like we're splitting hairs here. I mean, here's the local airport (KRDG) less than a mile from my house and at a similar elevation, and I kind of have to assume they have a better setup than I do: This is actually lower than what was recorded from the NOAA (highlighting is mine), though it says these results are still pending verification (which seems a couple of days behind): But you have raised a valid complaint in which my personal station certainly does not meet the criteria you have laid out. It's the first iteration of my PWS and therefore reduced cost was the prime motivator in getting one up and running. In the short term, I think I might want to rig up another remote sensor (Arduino, perhaps) to record and log shade temps. In the long term, I hope to be able to afford a much fancier unit. That said, one of the things I was most looking forward to when buying my house was to be able to log IMBY weather data over the long term, so your feedback (and post history, and personal website which is btw awesome!) is most welcome, thank you.
  17. .07" in the back yard station. I'll take another look when I get up in the morning--we've got a lot of brand new plants in the ground that could really use a good soaking.
  18. So far we're getting pretty fringed up here IMBY. Plenty of flashy-flash boom-boom, but just a few sprinkles to show for it. .03" in the rain meter so far.
  19. Looks like we also hit 90+ today (right around 3pm). Thank goodness for that breeze though! It made working outside somewhat tolerable. Looks like there are currently some boomers over the horizon with another line of storms a couple of hours behind. Should be an interesting evening
  20. It's a PWS mounted on a pole way above my shed. It seems to track pretty well with other local readings: This is an Amazon link to what I have installed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085T83Q7F/?coliid=I1UF5VN4PGI38P&colid=2A1ZCW2FEO3RX&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  21. Two days in a row above 90, and looking to hit again tomorrow. Two heat waves already this year! Booooo
  22. I was literally JUST NOW telling my wife that the countdown to fall starts tomorrow.
  23. It hasn't even started yet! Lol jk of course we started meteorological summer several weeks ago. To each their own though, and I hope you get to enjoy some more hot days, but as someone who primarily works outside in full dress hazmat gear I'll take this week's (and today's) cooldown gladly thankyouverymuch.
  24. Just chiming in to say that this week has been very pleasant to work outside in, especially compared to last week's roaster. I wish we could have this all summer.
