    We don't want to be in the bullseye of a day 16 total map, history has taught us that doesnt work out.

    Sioux Falls got .27 last hour all snow, even at 8:1 that's still over 2" per hour. This is probably going to be a solid overperformer across iowa and wherever it passes north/near Chicago before it dies crossing Michigan.

    Yeah been getting more and more common in December too, as it becomes more of a fall month instead of winter.

    Yeah we were decently foggy too, not over the top but a solid 1-3 mile most of the night and into most of the morning today. I love a good fog.

    Mild enough to be rain for most of us.

    Yeah the blocking across Canada is disappearing fast, going to be a warm pattern I think.

    There is an interesting setup for some snow Friday actually, models been hinting at it a bit with a low that goes south of both of us. Not every model is showing it but it is something to watch potentially during the week.

    This is a lot of the reason why the models are struggling with the PNA and how it will end up being: Now for most of us a negative or neutral PNA is perfectly fine. Ohio probably would want a positive PNA though.

    Its also an incredibly changeable one run to run even on ensembles. Getting a feeling we may not know what happens until its almost right upon us over the next 3 weeks.

    Yeah the one thing I am seeing is that the NAO doesn't get locked in place, so it very well could be a case that everyone in the east gets something decent after the 15th of the month. Main thing is keeping the Pacific sending waves into the SW part of the country and not cut them off there.

    My worry with the upcoming pattern is unless you are down wind of the lakes, it might be going from wet and warm to cold and dry with no snow.

    Looks like 1.05 for a total from the rain here.

    Getting some very much appreciated rain right now. Last hour DTW had .33 in an hour. .67 on the day so far.

    It definitely looks cold, snowy will still depend on the storm track. We don't need the NAO falling over a cliff, otherwise we will be in trouble and it could end up being cold and dry.

    We need precip more than anything right now. I'd gladly burn some of next month if it means putting down moisture for later on.

    Yes, you kind of don't want to go into winter in a drought. It usually fucks up moisture transport into the region. So rain now would be a welcome sight to see.

    Yeah pattern definitely favors the opposite especially as you go into December.

    It wasn't a sudden onset but gradual. That is probably why.

    I do like the potential going into December, you get ridging into Alaska and the eastern Aleutians which tends to be favorable for troughing in the west so we would at the very least have a storm track coming in from the southwest, if that ridge can tilt a bit northeastward you could dump down a good amount of cold air.
