    It will be interesting to see which model wins the heat battle this time, last heatwave it was the Euro lower on temps. This time the Euro is going nuts and the GFS is subdued.

    Pair of 97s at DTW and DET. Models overmodeled the UHI but still pretty impressive and the hottest temps in 7 years.

    Elevation doesn't make that much of a difference, you aren't 5000 feet above the rest of the county.

    You might want to get your setup augmented, it's at least 3 to 5 degrees low.

    94/75 for DTW yesterday. So far overnight the low is 79 at DTW and 81 at DET.

    This week is going to be on par if not exceeding 2012's heat wave locally, its been 14 years since we have had heat of this magnitude. Nothing typical about this unless you are in Dallas or something.

    Definitely not, especially with so many places that will approach/exceed 100 over a large expanse of the country, with a ridge that is only 594dm. Watch us get a 600dm ridge later in the season, and no it won't be a typical stretch of summer heat then either.

    Yeah I don't think there is even a chance until the 3rd week of March. There is a real possibility we don't make normal if March is very empty for snow.

    yeah see those categories on AWSSI are influenced by cold as well, and to me really cold weather doesn't have any appeal, I am more for the snowfall/big storms.

    If we get a big dog at some point between now and April I would say A, but I can't go more than a flat B. Personally I am not one who enjoys prolonged cold so that doesn't help the grade before someone says Detroit has had a good winter. We have had a consistent winter with periodic snows but our biggest storm is only like 5.9". It has been endless penny fluff.

    I hope we lock in on a wet spring, those always tend to be fun for severe as well.

    I actually wouldn't be surprised if this is a very active year for the region, with the plains being dry you can help push the EML/dryline further east than normal.

    I am taking this here since this is a better place to discuss it, when you throw out the "I have several gay friends" line, you might want to just sit this out. Your post was absolutely uncalled for and a loaded post, then you talk about toughening up. That toughening up line has been used against gay men for decades, as if they are not tough. You honestly just don't know who is LGBTQ here, and let me clue you in, there are several here myself included.
