    So it took the Sheriff's office to tell the transportation dept to get off the roads?!?! Insane! I bet! That flood system that they have now is awesome though. Takes flood waters under the city and dumps it outside the city. Yes I got the girls out safely. Reminded them to watch the parking lot as it is the student lot. I was going to get them early but I take their friend home and was not sure I could get them permission to leave early. Felt so bad for all the walkers.

    Oh they are going to get an earful! I am one who usually gives them the benefit of the doubt, but this is unacceptable. What a horrible situation to put their drivers and students through. Just to get in a full day.

    Yep this is FCPS. Yep! It was a shit show, excuse my French. And to add insult to injury Frederick County Sherriff has instructed all busses to go back to their school pick ups with kids that they could not get home. Parents are being instructed to pick up their children at the schools. FCPS has disabled all comments on their latest FB post. Hearing sirens all over. And raining again with a wind advisory. I want to know who made the final decision. This situation was known for days.

    I don't doubt it. I have yet to look at Ballanger Creek which is behind my house. Elmer Derr Rd on the S-curve usually gets flooded pretty bad. Hey there neighbor! My Ambient is sitting at 4.52" since midnight.

    FCPS MD messed up! Horrible conditions for these kids to be out in. Ponding water all over. Walking kids were drenched. Parking lot in front of the school on Ballenger Creek Pike. Horrible horrible decision.

    They are always saying, Frederick is a big county. We have to wait for all the routes to be driven before we make a decision. There in lies the issue. Our closer to and in city schools have a huge walking population due to our 1 1/2 mile cut off for busses. My girls HS on the SW side of the city is fed by 7 neighborhoods that are walking. This includes ours. Over half of the school does not have bus transport. So holding off to run the routes puts the hundreds of walkers at risk.

    Yep. Although already seeing road closures on the Frederick Scanner in the Northern part of the county.

    I am monitoring. If I need to I will pull the girls early myself. School is right up the Pike.

    As a Frederick Co resident, I am not surprised. And you are really getting it up there. Northern Fred Co is pick up too. I am right on the development line on the southern edge. Keep getting random downpours for about a min at a time.

    Yea kids have a 4 day weekend here also. Mon and Tue off. They went back 2 weeks ago also. Won't have a full week of school again till the last week of Sept.

    That would be a nope. All virtual instruction outside of our newly created Blended Virtual Program has been suspended. Even kids who have to quarantine only have access to their online assignments. No instruction is available outside of the physical buildings.

    Yep! The YMJ's birthday is the 20th. Their last day was the 18th due to the use of 3 snow days. She was like I better be out of school for my birthday.

    I am glad our system started when they did, Aug 18th. Because now our kids get a June 1st last day. The last few years the last day has been around June 19th. Also my senior is super happy because her graduation date is May 26th which means she will be done with school around the second week of May. Seniors get out about 10-12 days before graduation.

    yep. I told my girls to take an extra mask today to double up if it comes to that.
