    I think there's a period of some duration (days to ~1-2 weeks) where we're northern stream dominated it looks like if that pattern manifests. But the Ops runs with those type of looks have still been active, so think some snow is still quite possible.

    For an "ideal" long wave pattern, we want that ridging over top in Greenland and the Pole with a piece of the tropospheric PV stuck south of that and, importantly, ideally oriented in a more W-E fashion rather than N-S. A piece of that TPV stretching toward the 50/50 zone and the rest of it back north of or northwest of the Lakes.

    Yup, nice hit. I like the setup if we can get some consistency. Basically we want the northern s/w to outrun the southern s/w and then that southern s/w makes a turn.

    You'll quickly see that the only thing we do worse in MD than snow is snowpack.

    The "snow" on the Euro and Ukie...is that a front-end thump? I don't see any sign of backside lovin' on any model anymore. Ok...I see the Euro on weather.us. Looks like a few hours of snow north of DC before the flip.

    18 hours of temps in the upper 40s/near 50 and heavy rain will just leave piles I'd think. Yes.

    I'm fine with a stats padder that gets washed away hours later. It's what Mid-Atlantic winters are made of! Some good luck tomorrow night, this weekend, and next week and I could be within spitting distance of climo before the -NAO/09-10 redux arrives at the end of the month.

    Yeah, still clearly isn't there for us, but it's still trending our way for the moment!

    Didn't see 0z, but 12z EPS is definitely south of yesterday's 12z. Maybe ~100mi?

    Looks like some legit backside light snow on the euro? Western MD mountains stay all freezing/frozen this run. Pretty close to the Ukmet.

    It’s becoming clear that we probably can’t “win” with both this small event and the weekend storm as this storm sets the boundary position.

    18z gfs very slightly colder than 12z with about the same result.
