  1. Horrific basketball loss. One of those days when we can't score from 3 but never really try anything but 3s.
  2. Ended up with what my grandpa always called a "chestnut log" snow. Where the logs and raised surfaces are white but the ground isn't. Sitting at 31 right now with a cold North wind at around 12.
  3. Progressed to a full on snow shower now. 30.2 degrees.
  4. Few flakes floating around outside. 34 degrees. Feels like winter.
  5. They aren't as aggressive but the Euro and Canadian took small steps towards the GFS regarding potential snow in our region. Cold is looking to settle in for a decent stretch.
  6. That said, the 18z GFS is a good snow event for the MidState and West Tennessee. The 12z was snowmageddon for Kentucky and the northern areas Plateau and West. So a winter storm is still on the table for somewhere in the region but we know that story.
  7. I'll take a good soaker just for the final nail in the fire coffin. There's been a fire a few miles from here all week. Gets smoky in the evenings.
  8. The GFS rolled out a November to remember event that run. Would be a throw back to the 1950s when we played Kentucky in deep snow at Neyland around November 20th.
  9. Honestly, mid November and beyond isn't super early season for the area. We've had some big snow and arctic cold in the November 15th time frame. That said the GFS has been pretty consistent with a big cool down coming around the 10th-14th time frame.
  10. After being AN for November 2020, it had a cool shot or two but didn't flip until after a +10 to +12 stretch mid-month. Then it went BN and led into the white Christmas. Stayed pretty cold for about 8 weeks here. Less so further east.
  11. We had a similar stretch in November 2020, about 7 or 8 days of +15 to +20 weather. The month was +3 to +5 across the area after that.
  12. Got .55 from that. Probably finished off quite a few trees but it was a nice, multi hour soaker.
  13. Since I made that post the rain has picked back up and it's been a good moderate soaker for the last 20 minutes.
  14. We've had a good hour and a half or so of moderate to heavy at times rain. It's down to light rain now but it's still coming down steady.
  15. After a few spotty showers earlier, a nice moderate rainfall ongoing here as well. Looks like what Holston is getting is heading my way too. Hopefully it goes all the way into Virginia and North Carolina.
  16. The high was 39 today. First high in the 30s probably since the March snow event.
  17. I seem to recall snow around this time of year in 1995 but it was during the evening/overnight rather than during daylight hours. End of October/early November it's much more common. In 2014 we had a few inches Halloween night into November 1st. 1993 we had 3 inches on Halloween afternoon into early evening. We got snow from Sandy in 2013 on the 23rd I believe.
  18. From about 9:45 when it was coming down at it's hardest.
  19. GFS keeps trying to brew something up around Halloween.
  20. Last night the long range had some snow showers around Halloween/November 1st. Hopefully November blows cold.
  21. Managed .85 inches of rain, slow and soaking. Should really help with fire danger as leaves are really coming off and the 20s coming over the next few days will really bring them down.
  22. Two snowy winters in a row. We win the SEC basketball tournament for the first time in 40 years, now we beat Florida and Alabama in the same year for the first time in forever. It's a great time to be alive in Tennessee.
  23. I managed .45 last night and yesterday. There was close to 2 inches 40 miles west of here. Hopefully we get more Saturday into Sunday.
