    Grandfather Mountain set a new wind record about 4am this morning of 121.3mph. Crazy. It was the strongest wind I've seen at the house in foscoe since I moved there.

    Yeah fv3 is completely on its own. Doesn't even have a single eps member on board. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come with that model.

    It's all alone but the 12z fv3 is a thing of beauty. Massive storm for the mountains.

    Fv3 has been intent on an ice/zr event next Tuesday or so for a bit now. Interesting to watch unfold for sure.

    You do trail maintenence? I know the northern end of grandfather has been shut down since last may. Have had to go in the back and psuedo-legal way to access Boone fork since then.

    Bout 4.5 hours I think. I'm from the same area I just transplanted full time to Boone ha.

    Wow. It was 44 at my house in foscoe when I left this morning. Little geography and warm nose working right there.

    I use radarscope which is also $10 and I pay for the pro upgrade which is another 10 to get lightning and stuff.

    We've had some house shakers out of the SW in the last hour. Weird hearing the wind coming from down the hill rather than up.

    Didn't take long to cover the grass here. Coming down good. Roads holding up quite well.

    Bread guy said it was starting some in Boone. Wind has picked up a bunch and cold here west of town.

    I'm interested to see how this clipper works out this afternoon. NAM is a quick couple inches for the mountains. Certainly looks healthy back west.

    Nice somewhat surprise this morning. Little under an inch.

    It's not illegal to ski on. People do it all the time. Just don't block a gate and no motorized vehicles. I've hiked many a mile on the road in the snow. Got a nice coating of snow on the cars and grass here. Had flizzard conditions a couple times between Boone and the house a few minutes ago.

    Got snowed on at the viaduct this evening. Made it up on the Parkway after work. The section from 181 to Flat Rock was surprisingly open. Couple pics from the trip.

    Little hard to see in the photo but from Vilas looking up the hill. No ice here at the store but the glazing starts a hundred yards up towards the bypass. Always amazing cutoffs right through here. Also better house pic.

    Bad photo. Maybe a quarter to a third of an inch here. Went above freezing around 3am which has melted some off.

    28 and zr/ip mix. Everything icing up solid now.
