  1. Gonna take the blame for totals being slashed in the mountains since I said I’d book a cabin there this weekend haha
  2. No one can say that @wncsnowwasnt optimistic this time. We both tried to will it to reality. Alas, wasn’t meant to be… again
  3. Leaning heavily towards a Banner Elk weekend (Wed-Sun). Just seems like Miller As don’t exist anymore. More importantly, cold air never meets up with moisture east of the peaks. Jan 2022 remains the last meaningful event.
  4. Same here. My years in Boone had multiple “big events” but I loved the over performing NWFS events the most. Real boom or bust.
  5. Surprising but the Parkway is open north of the Folk Art Center! I’m getting some nice showers up here right now
  6. I’m going to wait until Tuesday/Wednesday to make up my mind. I love snow in my backyard but if McDowell is fringe at best… I might just book a cabin in Banner Elk and have some fun.
  7. I know we all want a big storm (myself included) but I’d take a 3-5 inch event in a heartbeat. At the same time…you can see the potential is there for WNC/Foothills for a bigger event too.
  8. Panthers and snow potential. Always letdowns.
  9. Yea, this is bad. Every hard rain causes issues here after Helene. And this was a major miss/underestimate by the models
  10. Was I just not paying attention or is this significantly over performing? I’m already nearing 2” and there’s a lot of heavy stuff in N Georgia/SWNC heading this way. Local creeks and ditches are overflowing (never recovered post-Helene)
  11. Pretty sure Met (my “always positive” poster) being negative is the reason everyone east of the mountains will get robbed of snow
  12. Guess beggars can’t be choosers at this points but if we couldn’t get but 2” out of 2 storms but the coast gets a foot, I’ll still be bitter
  13. *sigh* feels like we’re gonna get blanked but someone to our east is gonna get snow again
  14. Agreed. I’ve gotten bored the last 2 years. It hurts to have events fizzle or not pan out but there hasn’t even been anything to track in so long
  15. We’ve had what…. 1 fantasy run all season? When you can’t even buy snow on the long-range models in peak climo… remember when we were “setting the stage” with the Virginia snow in early Dec?
  16. I’m about ready to call it. Nothing promising and if I hear the mountain crew say “it can snow in February and March” I might just go bananas. Guess a chilly Thanksgiving and first half of December with a Record warm Christmas week will be the story.
  17. Hopium back in the forums? I’m all for the cold but PLEASE let those that have been snow starved finally Cash in
  18. If it snows to our south again before we get snow (based on last nights model run), I give up
  19. Same here. Always shows McDowell with a trace or 0.1 and I’m sorry, hasn’t happened.
  20. I got ridiculed for saying I thought we’d waste early Dec cold that hardly ever works out and we’d end up with a Torchmas. Guess what?!?
  21. It’s snowing this morning? Tiny flakes but heavy. Enough to cover the cars and elevated surfaces pretty quickly.
  22. I think I need to give in and just buy a “snow house” up in Banner Elk or on Beech to get my fix on an annual basis. Unfortunately, nothing hits as hard as a snow at home though.
  23. At least in the years where it’s warm, you know you don’t have a shot. These last few years have been so hard because we’re always so close. It reminds me of the stretch in the mid 2000s (05-08?) where it snowed all around the foothills but we never cashed in until Dec 09. But even then we squeaked out a few small events.
