  1. This is literally insane. Every year we say it’s going to end
  2. If I learned anything last January, I’m not going to think it’s snowing until it’s accumulating in front of my eyes
  3. Little cut in totals on the GFS but again. Beggars can’t be choosers. Would love to get another model on board though
  4. Back in the olden days, didn’t the UK sort of hint at where the EURO was going to end up on its next run? I feel like I remember folks making those connections back in 2014-2018 when we were tracking storms left and right
  5. If the GFS duped the foothill crew for 1 run, I’ll just see myself out for the rest of the winter
  6. Funny how 1 model run can lead to such a mood shift. Again, with how we’ve been burned, trying to remain skeptical. But, also hard not to get hopes up a little
  7. A week for all of WNC to enjoy? It’s been a long time since all of us got to rage together.
  8. Should be able to start recognizing early on these model runs now whether the trend has legs. If the energy is in Montana, we’re game on.
  9. Wait….. not like I trust the GFS. But….
  10. Put this one in the @wncsnowand @WNC_Forthall of fame
  11. Random vent moment. I’m getting tired of Mets in Charlotte, Greensboro, and Asheville acting like people here are crazy for wanting or expecting snow. Yes, we’re not Buffalo New York but untl a couple years ago, Charlotte never went a year without seeing at least *some* snow. Even more so when you go west and north of there. It is an expectation. The changing climate is obviously not helping but Mets acting like the public is crazy for expecting it is bothering me.
  12. *sigh* we are getting skipped again
  13. Gonna take the blame for totals being slashed in the mountains since I said I’d book a cabin there this weekend haha
  14. No one can say that @wncsnowwasnt optimistic this time. We both tried to will it to reality. Alas, wasn’t meant to be… again
  15. Leaning heavily towards a Banner Elk weekend (Wed-Sun). Just seems like Miller As don’t exist anymore. More importantly, cold air never meets up with moisture east of the peaks. Jan 2022 remains the last meaningful event.
  16. Same here. My years in Boone had multiple “big events” but I loved the over performing NWFS events the most. Real boom or bust.
  17. Surprising but the Parkway is open north of the Folk Art Center! I’m getting some nice showers up here right now
  18. I’m going to wait until Tuesday/Wednesday to make up my mind. I love snow in my backyard but if McDowell is fringe at best… I might just book a cabin in Banner Elk and have some fun.
  19. I know we all want a big storm (myself included) but I’d take a 3-5 inch event in a heartbeat. At the same time…you can see the potential is there for WNC/Foothills for a bigger event too.
  20. Panthers and snow potential. Always letdowns.
  21. Yea, this is bad. Every hard rain causes issues here after Helene. And this was a major miss/underestimate by the models
  22. Was I just not paying attention or is this significantly over performing? I’m already nearing 2” and there’s a lot of heavy stuff in N Georgia/SWNC heading this way. Local creeks and ditches are overflowing (never recovered post-Helene)
  23. Pretty sure Met (my “always positive” poster) being negative is the reason everyone east of the mountains will get robbed of snow
