  1. Being in the foothills is so fun. I’ll literally take anything at this point. But, we’re so close to historic territory. We need the Baja low to beef up the precipitation but not too much interaction because it leads to mixed precipitation. But, if we tend weaker, we lose the precipitation and the cutoff becomes too close for comfort
  2. Now let’s not tempt fate and go suppressed with our storm…
  3. Don’t tease me with such talk. Similar happened in 2018. Where I am on the escarpment and others just RAKED it in during that storm
  4. You thinking WNC sees a little bit of everything? Or chance it stays all snow?
  5. Well foothill crew. Another day closer. Can’t believe the totals the models are throwing out there. 2018, 2009, 1996, 1993, 1988 sort of storm if things stay on track.
  6. We’re talking snow totals on the GFS/Euro that rival or surpass THE storms especially in Asheville & McDowell.
  7. It’s gonna be a work week from hell
  8. This south trend is the thing of nightmares for the western NC foothill crowd. Something we’ve seen a lot the last few years
  9. It’s funny that an amped solution probably helps us in WNC/foothills get to “fantasy” big numbers (12-18”) but puts us more at risk of temps being an issue. Suppression scared me more as it’s just been an issue for the last 3 years. Can we still get suppressed and a big storm? edit: see the 18z GFS to confirm my concern
  10. We’re all about to exercise some demons or get a punch to the gut.
  11. Feels like the AI models already got some people emotional and cliff diving haha
  12. Last significant ice storm would be 2002? Funny because they used to happen a lot more. Personally open to any significant winter weather event but obviously rooting for a big snow.
  13. At bare minimum…I’m excited to have something to track with yall. Been far too long for a WNC/whole state of NC storm.
  14. The mean is starting to look legitimately insane
  15. 18z GFS shows my concern. Suppression city. edit: ends up not TOO bad. But, still the main thing I’m concerned about
  16. It’s so funny how much I try to temper my own expectations but so hard not to get hopeful/excited
  17. You can already see the models trying to find a way to screw the foothills. I give up.
  18. As much as we tried to will it to reality, last night/today just wasn’t going to happen. Trying to stay positive about next weekend/end of Jan
  19. Wonder if the snow this morning helped you out? I’m up at 1560’ and sitting steady at 43
  20. I saw 5-10 flakes but 95% rain. Drove into town and saw they had a dusting. Somehow missed out.
  21. HvWard staying strong and calling for 1-3” across the area. But, I’m personally just ready to move on from this silly event. Glad we had something to track and more on the horizon hopefully. But, this one was draining
  22. Yea, I hate to go back to my pessimism. But, my temps are scorching compared to forecast.
