  1. Temp or QPF issue? Just curious. Either way, time for radar and sky watching.
  2. It feels like a classic incoming snow outside right now. I still don't like how the models show lower totals on the lee side BUT, I'm excited to see whatever falls. Let's get it! Edit: Temps have risen sharply last 30 mins. Jumped from 24 to 29.
  3. Feeling good. Odd my NWS forecast went down from 3-5 to 1-3 overnight but I'm ready to see the flakes fly!
  4. Morning crew! I'm sitting at 24.5 this morning and 78% humidity. Lets reel this one in. NWS actually went down for me (1-3 now) but I'm hoping for more.
  5. Already down to 25.7° and a DewPoint of 16°
  6. Been relatively quiet in here today. How’s the crew feeling? Mostly positive trends today up until a slight decrease in qpf on the 18z runs.
  7. Alright y'all. Negativity gone. We're all in. Gonna go BOOM for us.
  8. I was just about to comment. You typically see tighter ranges of 3-5 or 4-6". 2-8" is a huge range for a WSW.
  9. We're less than a day away my foothill friends. How we feeling?
  10. Post-storm we should have a conversation about the lack of engagement the Blacksburg office has with it's NC counties for warnings. They fail to post advisories for events compared to GSP when it comes to the mountains/foothills. I think we need an Asheville or Hickory NWS.
  11. Sorry guys, I got optimistic again and the NAM had to come ruin it for us all . In general though, I'm glad to see QPF tick up. I find it odd that warm temps would be our issue but I guess we shall see.
  12. After a mostly positive night of model runs…. GSP cuts totals in half?
  13. I love this whole crew! There were definitely some hard feelings last year when it felt like hands were forced to make a foothills thread but I love our little microclimates. Heck, There are instances where the escarpment in my part of the world rake in BIG compared to the higher elevations. It’s just been so long for many of us. glad to be here with you all and here’s hoping that the storm delivers on Friday!
  14. I feel like there’s a budding rivalry between the foothill and mountain crew. Heck, the foothill thread only came about because we were no longer welcome to complain in the mountain thread. Sorry not everyone gets northwest flow!
  15. Right? From this frame I see a December 2009 incoming. Instead a dud. I expect just flurries at this point
  16. Don’t worry. Our higher elevation brethren will pull us off the ledge with their optimism!
  17. This is the sort of rug pull that hurts the heart. I think I’d just ask for the teasing to stop and transition to spring. I’m over tracking snow
  18. See @Met1985 this is why us foothill folks can’t be optimists anymore. Our first real event is quickly turning to a dud
  19. Tim Buckley and other Mets are mentioning the lack of precip. Gonna be an issue in NC…
  20. Ugh. That leeside minimum and Asheville snow hole are looking worse and worse
  21. I’m the same way @wncsnow. Skeptical until the very last snowflake. The Lee minimum showing up is concerning me
  22. lol. Love seeing the Asheville snow hole show up on the maps now. Feels like a classic storm now. Foothills/Leeside are showing lower totals in general. Something to watch for our foothill folks
  23. This is exactly why @wncsnowand I are never optimistic. Three years in a row where every event finds a new way to fail here.
  24. Deflating model runs overnight and this morning. Sucks to see the LP in a perfect location but minimal precip…
