    And just to add, when you get a deep stj feed like that one(Pineapple Connection)...interesting things can develop out of that in the form of juicy stj fed storms.

    As you said that ridge is huge, so energy in the NJ will be directed up and over. But look at the isobars east of Hawaii....they split the flow and go underneath that ridge. There is even a blue blob evident in the stj out there that wants to eventually undercut. That's your split flow.

    Wifey picked me up a bottle of this Dragon's Milk D20 Barrel Aged Imperial Stout for Christmas (she's the best). Looks like it will be amazing. Wondering if anyone has had it before? I'm likely going to age it in the cellar for a year or two as I do with most big Stouts. Found a dogfish head 120min ipa down there from 2 years ago...considering breaking it out. Will likely wait for our first WSW of the season however. @CAPE @Scraff

    Been harping for 6 or 7 days so most probably think im debbing, im not, but my wag is still the Jan 4 system is the catalyst/table setter for the system(s) Jan 6-10. If we somehow cash in on the 4th that's a bonus. Best chances Jan 6-10+....Plenty of opportunity coming.

    Usually by now as we are tracking a decent pattern he is already posting about the back end of the pattern and thaw.....so we've avoided that trainwreck at least.

    Jan 4th is a thread the needle but an important system that strengthens NAO blocking, sets up a quasi 50/50, and boosts confluence as waves press east under and over the pna via a split flow. Jan 6-10 is the real period to watch.

    Mentioned it late last week I think the 4th system is the catalyst for a followup system around this time. Get the Jan 4 system to the 50/50 area, setup some decent confluence, get the ridging in the NAO domain in a favorable spot, and then game on. That's my feel on this whole progression anyway....4th system might be rushing it.
