  1. I’m one of the village idiots here, but 6z GFS to me sucked. Classic miller B screw job where the initial slug cuts off and the coastal slams north of Baltimore to NYC. 3-6 is fine. 20 plus is rarely realistic. But us getting 3-5 while PHL to NYC gets 10 plus? Ugh. Reminds me of Jan 05 a bit. Lets hope EPS has a better idea.
  2. WAA snows plus the capture and pivot. Usually ends up a lot farther north, No? at least it seems to be a case of HECS vs low end warning snow (GFS) and not major snow vs total miss or rain.
  3. Winning the Euro 6 days out is like saying the WFT Skins are the best team... Monday through Saturday.
  4. I think all that’s left is to wait for the official DCA “T.”
  5. Well, I was wrong. DCA at 32 and snowing. I will never doubt snow here again.... until Thursday.
  6. Snowing in Wheaton. Grass turning white. Pavement wet. More than I thought we would get. I will have the crow please. Medium rare.
  7. Few drops of rain outside the VA hospital on North Capitol st. Still have that bridge for sale for anyone expecting measurable snow inside the beltway. 38F.
  8. Sure, but shouldn’t the light stuff have dried up and cooled the atmosphere some first? More trying to understand the physics/dynamics
  9. Question in terms of those seeing rain and 37 or so. If dews are in the low 20s where is the evaporative cooling and wet bulbing?
  10. I have a greater chance of being called up by the Caps than DCA has at being 32 degrees at 9pm this evening.
  11. DCA picked up 2.6 inches on 2/20/19. Wheaton got about 4 inches that day. Not a bad little storm. But anyone who thinks DCA is getting an inch or more from this tonight... I have a nice bridge for sale.
  12. Meanwhile the 540 line is North of Harrisburg. I’m no expert but that usually doesn’t translate well to sustained or accumulating frozen in the immediate DC metro.
  13. Temp never dropped below 35 last night. Dews already well on their way up with an east wind. Will likely top out around 40 or take and then with full cloud cover that’s that. Even if somehow frozen falls I can’t see it being impactful for the immediate metro. This doesn’t look like a system that screams dynamic cooling.
  14. Weekend rule. No way it can fail. Frankly, Waking up Friday morning to an inch and nice cold will at least look and feel wintry.
  15. Spotsylvania County will probably announce school closings for this soon.
  16. Pretty impressive how far North the Ukie gets precip. Would be simply awesome to get even a light snowfall before a home playoff game at Fed Ex!
  17. Snow to my north. Check. Snow to my south. Check. Snow to my west. Check. regular winter day in the immediate metro.
  18. It’s never fails to amaze me how the beltway literally causes snow to disappear.
  19. Yup. Beltway anti-snow force field is in full effect.
  20. Graupel flurries in Wheaton. Temp about 32. Why graupel?
  21. First hallucination of the day. Radar south of Stafford looks like it’s trying to organize into a nice snow shower. Wish we could bump that northward, but the 495 snowshield I’m sure would make it fall apart anyway.
  22. That would be more than DC got in the storm last week
  23. Obs- rain in city. Other obs- nothing more frustrating weather wise than rain in DC and snow in PHL an NYC
  24. Nice. And good call on this. Flipped here in the city already. Can't wait to get home and see it. Hopefully it lasts.
