  1. GFS was right 4-5 days out last week. The king is dead. Enjoy the quiet and cold. At least 60 doesn’t look likely anytime soon.
  2. Really nice out now.. if only it were just a degree or two colder at the surface. With daylight now and people out and about main roads have probably seen the worst of it unless there are insane rates. But still a nice little event today.
  3. Side roads in NW DC proper coated. Even some of the main roads getting covered.
  4. No, it’s relative to what is going on a stone’s throw away. 2 inch clippers are great. 2 inches, drizzle and puddles when nearby places are in double digits... much less great.
  5. What a waste of a storm in the immediate metro. Both yesterday and today. Total underperformer while the entire NE coast rocked. This ranks up there with the blizzard of 78 and Boxing Day.
  6. Stop the presses. Flurries at the VA on North Capitol st. Would make NYC jealous.
  7. Wouldn’t mind if whatever comes does so as we lose daylight. With marginal temps our area can never accumulate anything light or moderate.
  8. Not in the immediate metro. We will get the pity flurries as every pulls out. Missing storms and cold rain is just embedded in our DNA here.
  9. 31 degrees, north wind, moderate precip.... and of course all rain in DC. Winter rain, no one does it better.
  10. Down to 29. And as we lose degrees and sunlight the end is about here for this round. Makes sense.
  11. Well, here is a positive post... had a decent band finally just now that whitened the street again.
  12. And this is why I’m so frustrated by our results. Philly also wont be far off from this, and they really are not that far away and its not like they gain major elevation. Just ridiculous.
  13. Lol. Just calling it like I see it on this one. Potential for double digits that turns into 2 pity inches over several hours in prime climo while everywhere around us cashes in doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies. As a nearly retired MD now taking up meteorology more who has done the Covid front line thing for 10 months I just want a good snowstorm. But healthy and vaccinated so I really shouldn’t complain.
  14. Richmond should not out perform DC in the WAA snow associated with a Miller B.
  15. Dark echos to the south, east and north of the immediate metro. Sounds about right. WAA is better to the south. Miss the coastal to the north. There has go to be something to why the immediate metro seems to suck at maximizing dynamics in any circumstance. Anyway, Was just out in the Arcola, Georgia ave, Kemp mill road university blvd area. Barely an event on the roads. Spittting pixie dust now. Barely needed the wipers.
  16. Noting light snow that won’t accumulate seems like an observation to me. Should we pick up some rates and this start to look like something legit, I will post it as well.
  17. Exactly. I’ve been saying this all morning. What we have outside would be impressive for March. I get not getting the coastal- fine. But when WAA snows produce about 2 inches on the grass in late January with temps below freezing, sorry I just can’t get excited about it.
  18. 4 hours of snow in subfreezing temps in January with a pre dawn start with side roads barey covered and about an inch to show for it overall. Maybe my expectations are simply too high.
  19. I’m sorry. This is simply really wimpy. Even under the darker blues its hust heavier pixie dust flakes. WAA is usually much more impressive. Considering what this was showing 24 hours ago and will do to PHL to NYC... one big meh. guess I’m the Debbie downer for the day.
