  1. Demographics and a 10 year hangover from tropical storm Irene. We had to borrow over $200k to repair from the floods and the debt service is eating us alive. We are a member owned 9 hole course and the golf business is tough enough when you only have 6 months per year at most to make your money.
  2. We used our stoppage allowance at P&H Truckstop in Wells River, VT. They make a good omelette and bake killer bread. 6 hours on the road after that.
  3. I’m just looking to keep the course I’m president of out of bankruptcy.
  4. Drove across NNE today to Millinocket, ME. The thin snowcover was noticeable through the Whites and western Maine. I have more snow at my house than much of that area. Bethlehem and Twin Mt. in NH wasn’t good at all. It was a little better through. Berlin and Gorham, NH. From Bethel, ME until north of Bangor it was thin to at time just about bare. Dryslot looks to be in a snow desert just about. Looks like good coverage here though.
  5. Good luck with temps like this posted on BTV's page this morning!
  6. You can really see the elevation impact on accumulation. I drive I-89 everyday and coming down the hill from Berlin to Montpelier and get a great view of the Worcester Range and bits of the Spine. The upper 1000' are almost completely white. It's like a line was drawn on the mountainsides.
  7. Nice. That will be good for the Rangeley region.
  8. Much less here away from the spine but pretty consistent flurry/light snow action over the last day or two. All snow is good snow, until April at least. By then I’m jonesing for some golf.
  9. I hope everything turns out ok Gene. Is he at Dartmouth? That’s a top notch facility. Best of luck.
  10. For us, it's the lack of retention is has been the issue
  11. And that was just for the microbrews you brought home!
  12. The car thermo ranged between -10° & 4° on the way into work
  13. I guess I wasn’t paying attention but I didn’t expect light snow tonight. Roads actually got a little greasy on the way home from grocery shopping. 10F on the car thermo.
  14. 2.25” here. A little underwhelming, not that the 5” BTV progged for is all that overwhelming. Probably get a little more overnight. Went through some moderate type stuff on the way home from Waterbury. This stuff pretty much blew off the travel lane on 89. Did pass one car that was having a hard time going up the hill between exit 8 and 7. Looked like an SUV so they must have had really bad tires.
  15. It is. It happens once or twice a year and is usually good for a few unexpected extra inches. In 2007 we had some sort of lake effect streamer that absolutely pounded us with about 10”. A couple miles either direction had less than half that. We then got an MLK Day sleet bomb that sort of limped is along to the great VDay storm and a string of big snows through most of March. Town meeting day storm, St.Patricks Day storm were all 12”-20” if memory serves me.
  16. That <1” for my area has busted badly already. I think I’m near 2” since 5:00 and it’s still going
  17. See that streamer shooting straight down past where 89 makes a sharp south turn? That’s been over my house. We must have close to 2” more since I snowblowed the driveway between 4:00 and 5:00.
  18. Welcome, for the weekend at least. I work in downtown Montpelier. Hopefully we get a little snow so you can do some outdoor activities. As PF said, tho use Kuchera maps are generally just for entertainment purposes only.
  19. BTV mets are snow weenies. From this morning's discussion "vertically stacked near the Gulf of Maine. Among the deterministic guidance, quite a spread in snowfall amounts exists therefore it`s still to early to talk totals...however, seeing as it IS January in New England, it feels good to have a potential snowstorm to talk about in the forecast (rejoice!)."
  20. Happy birthday. The last sentence makes me want to cry.
  21. Not quite as much over here, maybe 2.5”-3” over the last couple of days. I did have the joy of being on the road home when the first squall came through. I’d say visibility down to less the a quarter mile at times.
  22. I’m 44.15N. A little south of PF and JSpin.
  23. Just got back to the office. 89 was crap, getting slushy. The car thermo read 31° and was down to 27° on the way back. It was ok if you drove reasonably and shockingly, everyone seemed to be doing that.
  24. Driving back from S. Burlington, hopefully 89 hasn't gotten any worse.
