  1. That’s funny because I’ve heard the snow is pretty deep up around Camel’s Hump.
  2. I grade on a combo weighted towards an enjoyment factor. This stretch since MLK Day has been good but if we don’t get anything more soon it will end snowmobiling early. But I also consider climo. The lack of true cold is a demerit. Right now I’m thinking C- maybe a straight C. Further south where they got whalloped, I could see a better grade.
  3. Where does your sister live? My mother was from Yorkshire. I have cousins around Huddersfield and my aunt still lives in a small village called Sowerby Bridge.
  4. I saw dendrite and Will commenting on that. I was gone most of the day but it looks like that is wrong. Here is a snapshot of my station. As you can see, my high was 40.1°
  5. It’s the afterburners from the F-35s
  6. Did a notch tour of NH today. Started out going to Pittsburg to buy a new to me sled. It was snowing most of the way and while we were there for a while. Pittsburg has decent snow but nothing huge for them. Headed back south and decided to take a left through Dixville Notch. Precip went from sleet in Colebrook to snow through the Notch and windy. Snow was heavy at times while we were in Errol. By the time we got to Berlin and Gorham it was raining. Up through Pinkham it transitioned to sleet by the time we got to the Auto Road and was really pounding snow by Wildcat. Roads were pretty nasty through Jackson. Still snow as we headed west on 302, occasionally mixed with, particularly around Attitash. Precip was light through most of Hart’s Location and was snow through Crawford. Changed to rain just past Fabyan’s.
  7. And Maine is the the girl who plays softball, can drink you under the table and tells you when you’re getting married rather than waiting to be proposed to.
  8. Not quite simultaneously. But the moon is rising in the notch that we were riding to. The bottom pic is looking west from the hill on the right. I think we were at 2100’ looking towards the spine. Camel’s Hump is on the left.
  9. All I can say is we hit 40° for the first time in 2021 since you decamped to Northfield. I’m blaming any early spring in central VT on you.
  10. We were riding down the snowmobile trail and I topped a little rise and I had to pull over and take that picture of the moon. My crappy iPhone doesn’t do it justice.
  11. I like that each of the NE states have different character.
  12. Until you hit the border station and immediately look out on the flat farmlands of the Eastern Townships in PQ. That transition is so startling.
  13. I’ll never forget the time when I was in high school and two jets from the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base came screaming down our valley so low you could see the pilots. There was no sonic boom but it was incredibly loud I remember them shaking the barn we were in. My neighbor’s husband was the commanding officer at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station at the time. She called him, got him out of a staff meeting and insisted he call Plattsburgh and report it to the base commander. I don’t know if anything ever came of that but it was funny listening to her yell at her husband who was hundreds of miles away about something that didn’t have anything to do with his branch of service.
  14. Grooming above freezing is hard and typically is t done on snowmobile trails. The snow is sticky and doesn’t roll through the drag. I know ski slope grooming uses different equipment but I’d imagine it’s still hard to work snow at those temps.
  15. One week since my first Moderna shot. No effects at all. 2nd shot on the 19th
  16. Got up to 41.5° but back down to 37.5° now
  17. I read the same reports. I would think his career in competitive golf would be pretty much done.
  18. That was my first thought too. Addiction is a bitch.
  19. That and mud season are how we keep out the pretenders.
  20. My PWS got up to 37.7°, which is my all time high, at least since it was installed January 1st. Back down to 35.6°
  21. That’s why other than ski slopes, April is generally a useless month up here. Sometimes the uselessness lingers into May.
  22. Big news here. I've just recorded my record gust (aside from my screwing around with the anemometer and spinning it by hand), 19.4 mph. Of course I've only had a PWS up since New Year's Day but a record is a record.
