  1. Cloudy and 40 after starting in the upper 30s. April is always good for a Gulf low up the east coast, isn't it? I'll just do indoor stuff and salivate over next weekend's forecast!
  2. Hummingbirds arrived yesterday! Looking forward to hitting some garden centers over the next few weeks
  3. Today is gonna be great! I don't mind the chill coming because it's going to be raining anyway. Looking real nice again by mid next week It's officially spring for me as my hummingbirds have arrived
  4. North Beach, MD at 84 and a buoy just a couple miles out in the bay is 58 with wind of 18 mph! A toasty 84 in Germantown as well. I wish we could just average this and early next week temps
  5. Overall grade of D for upper Montgomery County, MD. Had several small snows for a winter total of around 12-ish, and was the third straight winter without a significant snow (6" or more). Hoping the "law of average" comes into play for next winter.
  6. Had a little sleet this morning and now it's sunny and 60! I looked at the obs map and saw 40s in Garrett Co while parts of WV not far away are in the 80s
  7. Just had a pretty good wind-blown graupel shower in Germantown -- temp was 47 when it started. That's the highest temp I've ever seen frozen precip
  8. Nice place! Saw thundersnow in your forecast -- enjoy! Sprinkles and 46 in Germantown
  9. Partly sunny and 75. 70s stretch from NH all the way to FL
  10. This is awesome, 70 and sunny! Got the little garden seedlings on the deck getting their first taste of sun
  11. Wanted to major in met at FSU which specializes in hurricanes. Calc 2 and physics convinced me to go with business instead
  12. I'm pretty sure you're right that it was March 30. It capped off a ridiculous March with a 5-6" cold powder the first week, 10 inches on the 17th, then that March 30 event. Crazy
  13. Neat pic with the streaks -- it reminds me of a flight I took years ago from BWI to CHI after a strong arctic front. It was super clear and you could see narrow streaks downwind from the lakes where lake effect snow bands hit and brown in between. Wish I could have taken a photo but no cell phone then!
  14. Snow shower with wind and down to 26 in Germantown. Looks wintry with drifting in the hilly part of the yard and grass covered. The car in the driveway must be completely crusted under that snow -- might just let it melt Monday. To think I hit the wipers yesterday to wash pollen off!
  15. Sky darkened back up and light snow falling again as the bands move in; 29 degrees. Nice event for some of us but the WTOP headlines make it look like the area got crushed LOL
  16. Wow that is incredible! That wasn't all wind. Your micro climate is fascinating -- how about summer? If Balt is say mid-90s, what about you?
  17. Trees still have a lot of snow on them despite the winds. Looks very wintery with about 3 inches, and hoping for a squall later. How 'bout this from down south -- Knoxville had seven straight days in the 70s ending Monday, then 50s and 60s with a high of 67 yesterday, and got 5-8 inches!
  18. Eyeballing 3" in Germantown; 29 degrees. Snow is lightening up but the gusty winds are blowing snow off roofs and trees into impressive sheets. Every so often we get a real roaring gust and it's a whiteout for a few seconds. And I took a walk yesterday afternoon at 62 degrees
  19. Mod snow in Germantown and eyeballing about 1.5" Getting some good gusts here and there
  20. Back to moderate snow in Germantown with about a half inch and starting to stick on streets. The unexpected part is almost no wind
  21. Down to 32 now but sleet mixed back in after all snow for a half hour. Wasn't expecting that! Solid dusting on grass
  22. Already changing over to snow near Germantown. My bar is I just want to see a period of heavy snow which I have not seen this winter.
  23. Near Germantown went from rain and 40 a half hour ago to sleet and 37 now
  24. This is looking exciting and could be like a miniature version of the 2011 "Hoffman Storm" with rain changing to wind-blown heavy snow. Should be fun. Oh and how about sunny and 60s from Tuesday onward next week? Gimme some of that!
