    Had a few lingering flurries at 5am at the mountain that cleared out rapidly from 6-7am here. Clear skis now and that’s the official end to 4-days of persistent snow that brought 15” of dense snow to the upper half of the mountain.

    Ha! Used that earlier out on the hill. Just constant refreshes and finally the frozen QPF shot the mountain needed, including the base area. The base area at 1,500ft was around 7-8" total...3,000ft was twice that over the past few days.

    Forecasting what a weather model will forecast seems like an interesting way to go about it. Why would we forecast what a model will forecast?

    The theme seems to be they’d rather partly cloudy than watch it rain while it snows further west. Cant say I blame them. Been a rough decade for Eastern Mass .

    Ha they try to drive up here all the time. Last year we had someone under the influence try to go up and get stuck axle deep next to the Mountain Ops building. I saw two cars stuck on New Years morning trying to go up the Cat Road here. One made it all the way to the bridge before starting the climb to Spruce.

    Just an amazing powder cycle from this latest storm.

    And this was at noon today... added a real nice thick blanket to the mountain. Best day of skiing this season for me. Who knew this storm would continue to produce so much. The skiing from this storm is insane up high. Just knee deep trenches. Thick snow though, perfect with lots of small little flakes packing in tight.

    Man, its like the energizer bunny. Still ripping snow at the ski area (boxed area). Roads are white down in town again but nothing like what's happening up at 1,500ft there.

    Just getting crushed. High Road Stake showing 13” storm total. Another 4” fell today. Low ratio graupel and small flakes. What a QPF dump on the mountain. Skis very deep.

    Seems like even in NNE it’s losing faith. I fear we may lose Alex one of these days from the NNE thread too. I’m positioning myself in the snow pocket for as long as possible, tucked in under the Spine at 1,500ft to enjoy winter. It’s getting increasingly hard to find these havens of winter refuge. I half expect Pickles to stumble out from under an evergreen fort he’s been living in.

    Awesome upslope paste event still in progress over here at 1,500ft! We’ll try to send some your way. This has added some decent QPF as these ratios are under 10:1 wet snow. Base of the ski resort is a winter wonderland. A bunch more snow once above that 2-2.5kft elevation.

    Holy shit! You only have 6” at 1500ft? I have 6” at 750ft and there’s 18-19” at your same 1,500ft at the ski area. Mountain picked up another 6” in the last 24 hrs from the upslope burst last night and it’s still snowing...total of 8” so far from the entire event as of 11:30. Finally getting winter momentum going again.

    It's so far away in time frame. It could be a weak wave on a FROPA or a coastal hugger up into SNE (or worse). It's a long way out in the grand scheme of things. Not even worth looking at for another couple days.

    When the snow just won't shut off. This round seems to be finally tapering off after a drawn out ending. Inversion height, flow and moisture seem just right for downwind of Mansfield tonight. I'm just NW of the village center marker.

    It's been snowing nicely this evening. Roads were snow covered but slick... folks may hate on the upslope at times, but it keeps snow going when there are no real storms in sight. Wet snow still...sticking to every little branch. Mountain has had several inches since 4pm.

    I noticed J.Spin is on it in the NNE thread... I guess its probably time for us to migrate to that. A mighty 31-page storm thread in January that ends up being a N.VT party... what all the members here fear.

    Some terrain enhanced snow coming our way through Tuesday morning.... 18z EURO... 18z GFS goes gang-busters.

    Yeah nice pulse of moisture moving into the Spine. Should be able to add a couple/few inches overnight. Snowing with much better flakes down here in town too. Maybe this storm has more redeeming value than first assumed...

    Turned into a snowy event for the mountains up here... nice surprise to see no rain.

    Hey at least when you get rain, the mountains have a shot at snow . You know it’s been bad when a 1-3” scrapper would be a win.
