  1. Quite the string of March ice outs in the last decade.... I feel like I remember May too but certainly not if the last May ice out was 2001.
  2. I can't believe you took advantage of a non-pro like that
  3. Nice view of the remaining snow cover right now. We are still covered but it's starting to go quick. That 6" has held on pretty well for time of year all things considered. Probably disappears in the sunny spots today though. It is blindingly bright outside. Hard to even look outside without sunglasses ha.
  4. Had some real nice freezing fog last night. Low of 18F and the ASOS was showing 1/4sm visibilities in FZFG for a while. The entire valley was frosted nicely through about 11am.
  5. They've been here every summer in the past decade I've lived up here. I do remember the vet telling me that we need to give the dog the anti-tick medication straight through December and start up again in March. I always thought it seemed excessive but don't believe that anymore for sure. I mean there's still patchy snow/ice cover in the woods around here even in the valley (aside from the now 3-5" that's still left from the last storm). It's 100% snow cover from like 1,200ft and higher too.
  6. I’m lucky my father is a retired Emergency Room physician from Albany Med and can still prescribe. Sent him that photo and now have two weeks of Doxycycline to take. Like you, he said that’s the standard practice, a 10-14 day regimen of antibiotic.
  7. And BTV’s final map, updated from this morning. This event was without a doubt pretty poorly forecast/modeled in NNE. The GFS even 24 hours out had 1-3” pretty much all of NNE, lol. Euro probably won this handily. Definitely a much more widespread 6-10” than one would’ve guessed before the event.
  8. I honestly had no idea they were out already in the northern Vermont hills. Fukkin’ crazy.
  9. Can’t believe I had a tick burrow itself into my neck today. Its been pretty cold the past few days but warmer than normal winter keeping these things active? 10-day cycle of antibiotics coming up just to be on the safe side.
  10. Just about noon and the snow is just starting to fall off the trees. Figured it's time to snap a few shots before the winter scene succumbs to the time of year.
  11. Your total water was a little surprising, figured you'd be at least 0.75+. The 24-hr 18z EURO from yesterday was still low up in this area. Most CoCoRAHS were coming in with 0.60-0.90 water in that SW to NE axis. Also seemed like most spots did a bit better than 10:1... not much but 10-12:1 ratios, certainly not wet snow. I don't melt my snow, but with 6.8" I'd bet it's very close to what the local CoCoRAHS ob of 0.60" water is in southern Lamoille County. Looks like J.Spin got a tenth more at 0.70" which fits with how the models were showing the gradient.
  12. 18z Euro figured it out yesterday, ha.
  13. 6.8” Looks like a widespread 5-9” across the northern half of Vermont.
  14. Sunday River looks like it's getting smoked right now on Dryslots rad. Always think of you dude when I think of Sunday River.
  15. You’re about to see a nice thump on that radar!
  16. About an hour ago when I went out to pick up some "curb-side" dinner. Nothing like a winter storm to take your mind off current events. Around half a foot currently though, 1" past hour. Not a plow in sight.
  17. What's Ginxy call it.... thumpity thump? This has been a quick-hitter but gets its business done fast.
  18. Love when it's a busy evening at the NWS WFO. Upgraded advisories/warnings. Always shocking when a meso-band moves further north than anticipated, ha. .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/... As of 748 PM EDT Monday...Well its been an extremely busy evening here at the office, as we expanded the advisories north to the international border and placed central/southern cwa into winter storm warnings. Expecting storm total of 2 to 6 inches advisory and 4 to 8 inches in warnings, with many reports of 6 inches or so from Newcomb to Port Henry to Orwell to Bridport. A meso- band developed and moved further north than anticipated, causing snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour. We picked up 2.9 inches in 1 hour here at BTV during this band. Moving forward expect this initial band to lift northeast of our cwa by 02z, however, some additional lighter bands of snow will continue to impact central/southern cwa thru midnight or so. Have updated snowfall maps and qpf to match our thinking.
  19. What a night to be alive. Ripping great snow growth all the sudden. The heavy band was actually pretty small flakes. Now its big guys.
  20. J.Spin reported 2.6" in 30 minutes for a snowfall rate of 5.2" per hour That one band just made the storm worth it.
  21. Nice J.Spin! I was thinking at least 2" in a half hour with that band. BTV and MVL both reported the extremely rare M1/4 visibility as it is very tough to get those automated stations to show "under 1/4 mile" in heavy snow. Looked like MVL and MPV put up 0.17-0.22" water in that band.
  22. BTV also putting up the M1/4sm +SN obs. What a band that was. METAR KBTV 232235Z AUTO 14004KT M1/4SM +SN FZFG VV003 M01/M02 A3023 RMK P0018
  23. Eyeballing 4" out there? Cranking. Will get a measurement in a bit.
  24. Wow, the very rare <1/4sm visibility at the MVL ASOS. 0.17" water probably underreported too in the last hour at sub-freezing temps. I'm not sure when the last time I saw that observation. That's hard to get without a manned observation. KMVL 232254Z AUTO 19004KT M1/4SM +SN FZFG VV003 M01/M02 A3024 RMK AO2 SLP251 P0017 T10111022
