  1. Warming over the top today? I saw some meso-sites approaching 80F in the NEK of Vermont. BTV's mesonet page still has a couple 79s up there at 6pm in the far northern CT River drainage adjacent to Coos County. They probably are still just getting buds on the trees, easier time of year to dry torch some NNE sites. I didn't realize it was 10-15F cooler down in SNE till I saw Dews' post.
  2. Seems chilly. 75F up here right now at 6pm. Dew point at freezing, for 21% RH. Bottle it up.
  3. But it is desirable weather for literally every other activity you could dream up outside aside from swimming. Just great for every day life.
  4. Perfect. Another day around a 40 degree diurnal flip. 75F off a min of 35F. 26% RH.
  5. Ha yeah that’s nuts. I wasn’t up here then but people talk about skiing powder for like 2 straight weeks in the high terrain, which isn’t all that far off the first half of this May. That one sounded like the cold lasted all month.
  6. Mid-June? Stake is down under 4 feet. One of the more ridiculous ones was May 1997... that was very cold with several snow events. I think MWN got crushed that month. But there was still 48" at the stake on May 31st that year, we are already below that with 11 warm days to go.
  7. We melt. The natural snow level is rising up now above 2,500ft to near 3,000ft.
  8. It'll be interesting to see... I think Alex has him beat in elevation but only by 100 feet. Despite being at the bottom of a valley, Alex is way up there. Probably a colder location for sure at night, as Phin looks more mid-slope style property. Gonna be some good NNE snow races going on.
  9. Nice, we did 33F to 72F. Can't ask for anything better. Looks like rinse and repeat for the next week.
  10. 70/30 with 23% RH. Good Gawd. Black flies haven’t hit so far but it’s coming.
  11. Green pasted to the side of the house like a 33F blue bomb?
  12. Light and variable wind up here... 5mph or so. 66F already. Will easily be in the 70s again. You can almost hear the leaves opening it's happening so fast, lol.
  13. Next 6 days in the NWS forecast are all highs of 70-80F with mostly sunny skies. That's pretty sweet. We finally got here.
  14. Speaking of frost on a hill, a buddy in town here in Stowe was close to frost this morning but missed it by like 10 vertical feet. Lows were 33F here but looks like a shallow sloping yard is just enough to frost the bottom of the bowl... but 8-10 feet higher up no dice. Vegetation probably forms a barrier too?
  15. Some good stuff. Can’t believe how nice this week will end up being. DIT’s optimism paid off. .SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... As of 240 PM EDT Monday...Not much to talk about for the remainder of the work week as surface high pressure anchored off the eastern seaboard and an upper ridge over the Northeast combine to provide the North Country with clear/sunny skies, dry conditions and seasonal temperatures. Really interesting to see model consensus of 1000-700mb mean RH values <30% through the period, showing just how dry the atmosphere will be. A slow warming trend is expected each day with highs Wednesday in the upper 60s to lower 70s, warming a couple degrees to low/mid 70s for Thursday and mid/upper 70s on Friday.
  16. I wouldn’t do satellite. From folks I’ve known that have tried that route it doesn’t seem to be as reliable as they make it seem, not as fast as advertised either. If you have good 4G cell reception I would utilize that over satellite.
  17. I mean 68/32 at 6pm without a cloud in the sky here... 26% RH. Sitting on the deck before dinner listening to birds. Feels like the warm season has finally arrived for real. I know Tip’s mentioned it but exercising or hiking/biking in this is awesome, your sweat seems to evaporate and dry immediately. Lastly, looks like someone’s burn pile smoke drifted into MVL as they had a random 5 mile haze observation thrown in this afternoon lol.
  18. What a day. 57F at the picnic tables. 71/37 for 29% RH in the valley. Best hiking weather by far. Snowpack is starting to go fast. Lots of water getting released into the Mtn waterways.
  19. That’s a good call. Certainly a candidate for low snowfall for a 3000ft or higher hill. The stand alone hill doesn’t get nearly the orographics as a cluster of peaks or larger ridgeline.
  20. That would be an interesting game... like find that poor 1,800ft elevation that seems to get relatively shafted for that high el.
  21. Best day of the spring so far! 67F at noon with a dew of 37F.... bright blue skies, not a cloud in sight. Two days ago the forecast was for categorical rain. Edit: Now 70F. This was going to be the worst day of the week.
  22. That is absolutely nuts for snowfall in any area, and your elevation makes it crazy. I've always thought it's awesome to have someone dedicated live inside that snow zone. Driving through there, it always seems to be the hardest rates on I-89 or RT 2. May was one of the best I can remember...nothing like 10 days of sub-0C H85 temps and multiple snow events at that point in the year. An exclamation part on a colder-than-normal April. 16 of the last 17 days in April were below normal.
  23. We came in a bit below normal here, and just ancedotally I'd say the area was 10-20% under normal snowfall (BTV was what, 13% under?) ... J.Spin though looks about spot on his average. The mountains were below normal though, but with some weird nuances. I read Sugarbush said it was one of their lowest totals in the past 20 years but most inhabited spots seemed to be maybe 10-15% below? Mansfield was solidly below normal by my count but still markedly higher than 11-12 and 15-16. If there's anything like a "normal below average winter" (not sure that makes sense) this seemed to be it. I still think the BTV to J.Spin gradient is one of the more extreme we can see in New England for comparable elevations.... 18 miles away, elevation change of only 200ft, and BTV 70" to J.Spins 140". It's legit too.
  24. You’d be able to get some ridiculous time lapse loops from there. Big sky view to watch Tcu explode in July over the Presidentials. Fast moving squalls in the winter where it’s partly sunny then 0 vis then partly sunny... great potential there for weather vids.
