  3. Here in Chester County. We average almost 6" of snow during the first month of spring. Below is a list of our Top 20 March snowstorms and our top 20 Snowiest March months since our weather records began back in 1894. Of note the snowiest March was just 4 years ago....it has not snowed in March the last 2 years - we have never gone 3 consecutive March years without measurable snow in Chester County PA
  4. Here in Chester County the 2022 - January/February finished with a slightly below average temperature of 30.39. (our 66th coldest of 129 years) Below are the Top 15 coldest January-February pairings - of note 3 of the Top 15 coldest winter month pairings have occurred since 2000. With 7 of the top 15 all taking place since 1977. Rankings below
  5. Unusual but we won't get close to the daily records here in Chester County - Tomorrow and Monday are both record highs of 75 - recorded in 1946 and 1921 respectively
  6. Below is an analysis of the average temperature history by decade of our winter months of December, January and February here in the philly burbs of Western Chester County. As always our climate is very cyclical in it's warming and cooling cycles. By decade we have had 6 decades with increased average temps vs the prior decade and 5 decades with colder temps than the prior decade. Of note the 3 coldest DJF decades occurred during our last cold cycle in the 1960's through the 1980's.
  7. Interesting that as my Facebook weather members has continued to grow....it has been noticed by the powers that be at Facebook! I had no idea that when you reach a certain level of "community significance" LOL - we require more protection. This little side project has far exceeded my expectations and has grown beyond just Chester County. I guess a lot more folks are as Ben Franklin said - "weather wise and not otherwise"
  8. Here in Western Chester County PA the December through February months of 2021-22 ended as the 26th warmest December thru February Period. Of note 17 of these warmest periods have occurred since 1960 - with 13 of these warmest periods prior to 1960.
  9. 31.4 on the VP and 31.3 on the rooftop Tempest Station still steady ZR falling
  10. Most of Chester County is still at or below freezing - temp here in East Nantmeal is 31.4 with more ZR falling
  11. Measured over 0.3" of ice on deck - temp still at 31.5. This is the most ice we have seen in many years here in NW Chesco...
  12. More sleet mixing back in with the ZR here in NW Chesco but....good news is temp is up to 28.1
  13. Temp up to 28.0 let's hope we rise faster than some of the models are showing....steady ZR temp
  14. Of note my Davis rooftop anemometer has already frozen however the Tempest station on the roof without moving parts continues to work...winds have swung around from the SE to the NE over the last 15 minutes - temp at 27.9
  15. Temp continues to fall steadily with the onset of precipitation here in NW Chesco....temp is down to 27.5 DP 23.9. Mainly ZR here with sleet mixing in from time to time. My deck and walk is already very icy.

  18. 18z for what it's worth backed off a bit more on frozen...of note however is it looks to be running a 2 to 3 degrees too warm vs the actual temps this PM
  19. Most models are in pretty good agreement around ice amount for north and west of the city - including 12z Euro
  20. A couple flakes and a few ice pellets starting here in East Nantmeal temp at 29.1
