  4. While not 30 year norms always interesting to watch the cyclical patterns and smoothing that occurs when simply comparing decades....see the Chester County Snowfall history by decade since the 1890's below
  5. My Chester County PA Weather Facebook discussion site has continued to explode with now over 2,100 folks on board and over 1,500 in just the last 2 weeks! A lot of people in Chesco seem to be as Ben Franklin said weather wise rather than other wise!! A question came in today regarding average snowfall per month and all-time monthly snow totals for Chester County. Below is the average snowfall by month that we receive here in Chester County PA along with the all-time greatest monthly snowfalls and those years. The earliest snow ever recorded in Chester County was the 9.0" back on October 29, 2011 and the latest was on April 28, 1898 when 1.0" of snow was recorded
  6. The snow has changed to rain but temps have continued to slowly fall - we are just above freezing here in NW Chesco at 32.6
  7. A mix of sleet and snow here in NW Chesco at 33.9 degrees with no accumulation.... a snow less December still in tact!
  8. A few flakes just started here in NW Chester County PA - temp 34.4
  9. S+ being reported at York PA with vis under 1/4 mile temp has fallen there to 32
  10. Spots with some elevation like much of Western Chesco and Berks County may see something other than white rain...
  11. Today's High Temperature of 56.6 was the 10th warmest Christmas Day in Chester County PA weather history with the warmest high temp being the 66.7 back on Christmas Day of 2015. The coldest Christmas Day here in Chester County since records began back in 1894 was Christmas Day in 1983 with a high temperature of only 6 degrees above zero and a low temp of 3 degrees below zero
  12. For those who like cold the CFS has a mighty cold looking January on their latest forecast....of course not saying this is reality but could it be the old JB delayed but not denied cold??
  13. Barring a Christmas miracle it appears with this years "green" Christmas we will now have experienced the 2nd longest stretch (9 years) without a White Christmas in Chester County. Our last White Christmas occurred back in 2012. The longest stretch in Chester County history without a White Christmas was the 16 years between 1931 and 1946...so we still have a ways to go to break that record!!
  14. You had me till you mentioned the CC phrase that is always the correct answer these days....
  15. Welp if we don't have the cold....at least for those that love snow we just experienced the 2nd snowiest decade ever in the 2010's.....and the last 2 decades have been top 4 all-time snow decades!
  16. Just typical weather cycles....it will of course come to pass again....

  19. A little more but only 2.13" here in NW Chester County PA since November 1st through today - normal over that span is 6.64"
  20. GFS back to snow N and W for Christmas AM....it is on a hot streak!!!
  21. While the past 2 months have been very dry overall we will be finishing 2021 with above normal rainfall in Chester County PA
  22. Absolutely as we are in a clear warming phase.....but as always warming phases will be followed by cooling. Our climate periods are and will always be changing - no one can deny climate change!!
  23. not to get into a big discussion but...."changed radically" don't see it....now a clear current cyclical warming period absolutely! Still suspect the next cooling cycle which I am confident starts later this decade will once again bring us back to a colder 3 to 4 decades of colder climate. Simply the normal ebb and flow of climate that we have and will always see!
